Had my gallbladder removed yesterday!
Hi, everyone,
Just wanted to share my story with you guys. I am about 6 weeks post op. I was one of the lucky ones that had a pretty good experience - no pain, no complications. Last Friday, I started suffering from a really bad pain on my esophagus and pouch. I thought it was a bad case of upper gas, but the damm thing wouldn't go away. I was getting stomach spasm and a pain up my esophagus into my left shoulder. I had no appettite whatsover and couldn't even get a bottle of water in. On Tuesday, I was running a fever of 101 - so I decided to go to the emergency room. 2 Cat scans did not show anything but the ultrasound showed I had gallstones. They removed my gallbladder last night and now I am resting comfortably at home. So now I have added 4 additional incisions to the 7 I got from my gastric bypass. I was surprised that I got the gallstones so early on. My Dr said that the gallbladder was in good condition but full of stones.
Thanks for listening!!
Sonia
Thank you all for your good wishes. To answer Tiffany's question - the only meds my DR put me on after my bypass surgery was prevacid. I wonder why the Cleveland Clinic - with its great rep and all didn't prescribe anything to avoid getting gallstones. Well the only good think about all this is that I lost about 10 lbs this week and since I was in a stall, I guess that's good. The incisions hurt more this time around so I have to take very easy this week.
