Ice Cream

I agree Chele. The point in this surgery is not to negate our cravings. It is to learn to make more rational choices and eat a more normal portion of what we choose. Just as dieting fails with total abandonment of certain foods so could this. If any of us is able to eat normal portions of certain delictables and really not overindulge then we have succeeded. Slowly we can all add in some of our favorites for treats on occasion. In fact, nothing is perpetually off limits for us. It is all about portion control and not eating something that will make us feel ill. Currently I am still within my first 6 weeks so I am trying not to indulge in things too much, so I have yet to try any ice cream product. Mostly b/c I do not have any sugar aversions/dumping problems yet and I do not want to find out that I can eat a 1/2 cup of ice cream without issue and then begin to eat it too often. But I do have some SF popsicles and use them to help increase my fluid intake. As far as I can see there is no issue there. 30 calories each, they are just like drinking fruit juice. (But way colder which is something I crave for some reason now after surgery). I don't know, I think we will all someday be able to indulge freely -- but in small quantites and in less frequent occassions. Emily
