Hi everyone, I was just reading the "What's on your menu" post and saw a few of you are eating broccoli. This is one of my favorite veggies and I tried some last week without success. I chewed very well before swallowing but still it wouldnt go down. I didn't vomit but I felt like i had a rock in my throat for about 2 hours and my mouth watered like crazy, like I was going to vomit but couldn't. Now I am afraid to try it again, but like i said i see some of you that are having it, are you tolerating it well? Should I try again at some point, and if so, how long should I give it before I try again? Thanks! Karyn

There are a lot of things that I can't tolerate the first time I try them and so I just wait a couple of weeks and retry them and for the most part the second time around I do okay with them. But if not I just wait and retry. I can do broccoli, one of my favorite veggies. Good luck. Hazel

I can eat it sometimes. For me, it depends on how it is cooked. I used to like it with some crunch to it, but now it has to be overcooked and kind of soggy to go down smooth.

Try this. Really cook it, till it is almost mush. Then put a salad dressing on it, low cal, low carb. (I couldn Kens baslamic low car, low fat dressing and love it) Maybe between the two things it will go down better. Or put a cheese sauce on it, then it will also have protein. You are only about 6 weeks out, wait a week or 2 and with the suggestions above, you should be able to eat it again. Oh another thought, add some mushy brocoli to some chicken soup, that might help also. Brocolli was the first vegie I tried, was dieing for it. I did what I said above and was able to eat a few trees. I was early out and I took it real slow, but I did eat it.

Hi Karyn When I cook broccoli, I steam it really well. Until it looses the bright green color and starts to wilt a bit. Then I lightly season it and spray it with ICBINB spray (0 calories). It's yummy and I can always use the extra iron in my diet. But here's a tip. Cut the florettes not more than 1 inch from the stalk and discard the stalks. They are too fiberous at this point in our recovery. The florettes are much easier to digest. If you buy frozen, avoid the packages of 'chopped' because it contains chopped stalk. Just buy the florettes. Bridget

Karyn, Broccoli is my favorite vegtable too. I tried it twice and it felt like I was swallowing rocks. My nut suggested buying the frozed chopped broccoli and boiling it a little longer. I brought some today when I went grocery shopping. I hope it works. Kay

Gaseous like beans, and real good with cheese! Make sure you cook it until tits real soft, since your new system has a hard time digesting things. When you get to do stomach exercises this should help with the gas stuff.
