Losing really slow!

Hi everyone, I haven't posted on this forum before but decided to make my way over here. I had surgery 1/30 and weighed in at 248. Today I weighed in at 226 but on Saturday I weighed in at 225. What gives? I do everything the doctor tells me to do. I have had absolutely nothing I am not supposed to have and I exercise. I am still on the pureeed stage of food. This is very frustrating especially when I see other people post on how they lost 36 pounds in two weeks. I am jealous. I am just being honest. I eat protein filled foods and drink my liquids. I know I am losing inches (I am grateful) but it doesn't seem to make me feel better, because truthfully I want to lose weight. Thanks for letting me vent ~~Hugs and well wishes~~ Chris

hi Chris, I know it can be very frustrating at times. I have an awful scale and get different readings every day. Finaly I quit weighing and only check once a week. I had my surgery on 1/20/06 and I don't think I am losing very fast either, but if it wasn't for the surgery I would probably be gaining. You sound like you are doing everything right, so just take a day at a time and the weight will come off. Take care Rosemary

Thank you for your reply. I do weigh myself everyday and no matter how much I tell myself I won't keep doing it. I still do! ~~Hugs and well wishes~~ Chris

Welcome! I think you will find this forum easy to talk to and more like a family. I has my surgery on 1/27, I had lost 10 pounds at my surgeons request a couple of months before surgery and then 19 more pounds on the special diet they had me on. So, I have really only lost 23 lb.s since surgery. So you see, you are doing about the same. I also will jump up a pound or so at times. This all seems to be normal. Everyone's weight loss varies. I have heard the average loss to be anywhere from 10-20 lb.s a month. You are doing fine. Are you exercising yet? That my help some. I completely understand how you feel. It just doesn't seem fast enough and sometimes I think if it doesn't pick up I am never going to reach my goal! Hang in there. Feel free to email me if you want to talk! Leeanne

Hi Leanne, I did lose 30 pounds prior to surgery so I have lost a total of 53 all together. I just think like you said it will never come off. I am so glad I had the surgery and would do it again in a minute. Just wi**** was quicker! Thanks for cheering me up about the weight loss! ~~Hugs and well wishes~~ Chris

Hi Cara thank you for your reply. 30 of those pounds I lost prior to surgery. I have only lost 23 since surgery. That is the frustrating part. I weigh myself first thing in the morning while in my nightgown. ~~hugs and well wishes~~ Chris

I lost 20lbs the first month and 10 the next. I am told that is what I should be loosing to keep from having trouble down the line. I know it sucks, as I think it sucks too. I exercise 7 days a week, eat no sweets, calories around 800, very low carbs and get my water and protein in. I am working to get to 15 a month from now on. I have added veggies to the mix. It was helping. Hope it continues to do so. Most that loose 50 the first month loose mostly water. You had already lost the water before surgery with your diet. By loosing slower, your skin has time to pull in, you don't have anywhere near the rist of malnutrition. This is the healthy way to loose. ****ep saying that, as that is what my Dr. says, if I say it enought, I guess I will believe it)

Chris, Vent on girl! I too am loosing slowly. I sometimes feel frustrated. I also feel amazed that I lost 26lbs since Jan 23rd. Before surgery, it would have taken me 3-4 months to loose that much weight. I have always been a slow looser. I am on the soft food stage which is alright with me. Hang in there. Cathy
