My 1st WOW moment.

Okay, okay, I know what you must be thinking...her first wow moment 8 weeks post-op? But I am serious. I am a very negative person and have not really let myself get overjoyed by anything or thought anything was directly related to surgery -- unless it was a negative thing. But this weekend was different, I can't think of this as anything but great and related to my losing this weight. So, I must revel in the joy of it all... So here it is... I went yesterday to the Y to begin some swimming routine. I had been a competeive swimmer all of my life and always loved getting in the water and working out. But once I was up to my highest weight, even swimming was very difficult. But yesterday, when I went, expecting it to be difficult and tiring, I was pleasantly surprised that I did alright. In fact, my first three laps I did without stopping -- flip turns and all! Overall I did 30 laps in about 20 minutes or so and then soaked in the hot tub. But that's not all. While showering and changing I decided to step on the scale there. Wouldn't you know it, I was UNDER 300 pounds! That means that I only have to put the weight thingie to 250 and then use the smaller one to get to the exact weight, instead of going all the way to 300 and then using the smaller piece! And, I have been on that scale before, so I know what it used to say was very close to my Dr's scale. To me it is not an "official" weigh-in; I think of those as the one's at the Dr's office, but it does mean a great deal to me to finally be done with the 300 pound range! So, I had such a great time yesterday that today I swam twice, once at noon and then again at 5pm. All together I swam 46 laps today. I am so psyched because I couldn't have done that well before surgery. So that is my first WOW moment. Thanks for listening! Emily 347/298/160

That is such a terrific wow moment! I have been so bad about exercising and I know swimming would be great, but I just haven't gone and DONE it yet! You are to be congratulated!!!

Emily, This is wonderful. I love to swim and go to the local JCC to swim. I have built myself up to over a half mile now in an hour. I love it so much I get psyched just knowing I will get to the pool that day. Hurrah for you! Also, it is the most wonderful feeling when you can move that scale weight down from 300 to250. I felt so giddy the first time I could do that! Sandra

Excellent Emily!! I too love to swim....I am planning on going tomorrow for the first time since surgery and am anxious to see how I do. I also love water aerobics and will attend the class at my gym tomorrow night!! Great job on the weight loss! I was excited when I dropped below the 300 mark... it's like a huge milestone!! *hugs* Jewels 354/309/269/150
