I hate to complain but when I read about everyones weight loss and I look at how much I've lost I'm almost in tears. I have not cheated, I've been walking, perhaps I haven't been drinking the 64 ounces of water recommended more like 50 ounces. I had surgery on the 27th of Jan. and I've only lost 30 pounds but when I look at others losses of 40+++ pounds I can't help but saying WHAT AM I DOING WRONG!! I started this journey at 255 and I currently weigh 225 although I'm grateful no doubt but I wish the scale would move I haven't lost any weight this past week - it sucks! I'm trying to stay encouraged! Jean

Jean, I was having the same problem. My weight loss had really slowed down, almost stopped. Everyone kept telling me to up my fluid intake. I was only getting in 48oz, thats all my doc said I needed. So I did, went to 80 oz and the weight started to fall off again. Remember......everyone looses weight differently. Just up those fluids for a few days and see what happens. Good luck, kristi

Not everyone is loosing alot. I am down 35lbs. I had my surgery 4 weeks before you. Those who loose alot of weight are loosing water weight according to my Doc. The one thing you might try is exercise. Walking is fine, but not really enough. I posted about this earlier, not sure if it was on this forum, but will again. My parents walked 5 miles a day, 6 days a week. They thought they were in good shape. Then Secure Horizon started offering free gym memberships, they joined a gym. They started taking the silver sneekers classes. They found they had little to no muscle strength. They plopped into their chairs, instead of lowering down. They couldn't catch a small ball after bouncing it. Mom couldn't bench press, an angled weight machine, 10 lbs. They now can do all these things and more. Mom realized she was having problems with her balance, not anymore. They both are doing much better now, it has been 3 months. What I try to point out with this, is walking may not be enough. See if you have a YWCA or maybe a local college with a class, or a gym that is not too expensive. Hope this helps. I am also not happy with my weight loss. Oh and I started at 264 and am at 229, so we are both light weights, that is another reason we loose slower.

I had surgery two weeks before you, and I am in the same boat. I get discouraged, but I keep trying... Doing what they have all told me to do. I refuse to give up. I didn't risk my life to fail again. I have only lost 32#, and I am almost 10 weeks out. I haven't been exercising like I should be. I have not been getting my protein everyday, I have not been getting my water everyday. I am trying, and I can see where I can improve. I will keep trying. And you should, too. Everyone's body is different. You just need to focus, do what you were told, and you will succeed! You can get over this hump, and be a success! Have faith! Believe in yourself! Keep doing your best! Much love, and best wishes, Angela 292/269/237/145

Jean, I had surgery the same day as you. I lost 10 lb.s prior to the final countdown for surger and 19 lb.s on my 2 week diet before surgery. I have only lost 23 lb.s since surgery itself. I think you are doing just great. My doc says I am losing about average. I know it's discouraging. I feel like I have done so much work for this? We have to keep each other encouraged! Leeanne

Jean, Hang in there! Some weeks seem to go better than others. Everytime I got on the scales and they hadn't moved (or worse yet, went up a pound or two****pt reminding myself of the stalls we are told we go through, and to plow right through them you have to move and drink more, so I did...and when you think it isn't coming off, if you look back a month or even a week or two ago, you may be surprised. I also remind myself it is way better than I would be doing had I not had surgery. It's normal to get down or discouraged at times, just don't sit there and take it, get mad and get moving again! THANKS so much for all of your encouragment because I REALLY need the boost today. I'm following this thing to the letter except for drinking a min. of 64 ounces of water a day but I'm on a quest to up my fluid intake. Jean

You really need to stop comparing yourself with others. I lost about 42 pounds, but was way heavier than you to start with! I now weigh 298, a whole 43 pounds more than what you were when you started! You have to drink your fluids, you have to get your protein and you have to exercise. The more you exercise, the more muscle you will build and the more quickly the weight will come off. Period. Everyone got to the point of needing surgery differently and will lose the weight differently; what does your Dr. say about the weight loss? Focus on that and stop thinking you've done something wrong. I can only wish I weighed 255 right now. Good luck to you and try to cheer up! You're doing just fine! Emily

Jean, dont worry so much about it. I had my surgery 2 days before you and havent hit the 30# mark yet. My doctor assured me I am doing everything right and to just keep on doing it. I went 3 weeks with no loss, then lost a little and now nothing again. Kim

Jean you and I are on the same page. I had my surgery on 1/25 and as of today just hit 226. I had surgery at 254. I don't get all of the water in either, so maybe that IS it! Have you lost sizes? My surgeon doesn't much care that I'm losing sizes, but I do. I'm down from a 20/22 to a 16/18. In fact, I have a job interview today and I had planned on wearing my favorite suit. It is SO MUCH too big!! So I'm in one that is a 16W that I haven't been able to wear in years. I don't think we're doing anything wrong - I think we're just losing slower than those who started out larger than us. Let's toast to each other and move forward
