Try Isopure in the premixed bottle to get your protein. 40g per bottle. Also Biotin is good for your hair. Sorry about your hair falling out already Good luck.

Hi Debra The past couple days when I comb my hair, I noticed a little more hair on the comb than normal. So I guess its starting for me. I do drink 2 protein drinks a day but dont do good with food. I guess I'm weird because I actually love protein shakes. Everyday I mix 4 oz of Chocolate Carb countdown milk w/ a scoop of Any Whey tasteless protein. It's not that bad. I have heard that GNC takes protein back if you dont like it, go try a few out til you find one that you like. I have read others doing that. Good luck Kay

Although it probubly didn't help, not getting in the protein, our hair will fall out no matter what we do, if it is going to do so. Biotin and protien will make the new hair healthier, but it is either the the loss of nutrition or the surgery that does the job. That is well behind us and nothing we can do to change the catalist of the hair loss. I keep thinking I am seeing the hair loss, but then the next time I brush my hair, it is back to normal loss. So I am not sure if I am there yet. By the way, not everyone has hair loss, so there is still hope.

Debra- Mine's been falling out quite a bit for the past couple of weeks at least! I also am nowhere near getting enough protein. I have a really hard time getting it down and my nutritionist said that it will keep getting better but that they don't worry about it until we get about 6 months out (she also doesn't really want us using a lot of protein shakes - they can be taxing on the kidneys and cause additional dehydration). My hair was pretty thick, so it isn't too obvious to anyone but me, but I'm starting to get a little worried. It's so disheartening to look at the drain when I finish my shower. In one of my books about gastric bypass it referred to this phase as the "build your own cat kit" because you could build your own cat with all the hair left in the drain. Yuck!!!!!!!!!! Eileen

WOW, protein shakes bad for the kidneys and can casue dehydration?? I have never heard of this. My surgeon believes in 2 protein shakes a day forever! Somedays I do three if I don't feel like eating! I want to find out more about that info. I'm trying to be healthy not cause health issues. Kay

Hey Kay- I'm sure if you're following your doc's recommendations your fine! Our nutritionist was talking about the really high protein things that you get from GNC - often the folks selling them are focused on building muscle and will advise people to take far more than is healthy. The protein is filtered in the kidneys and from what my nutritionist told us if you are taking these really high (she was talking the 40-50 grams of protein in one sitting types) they put strain on your kidneys and your body has to draw more fluid from the body to flu**** - thus making you even more dehydrated at a time when hydration is so important. As I said, every single doctor seems to have a different approach and plan and I'm sure they are watching you and advising you appropriately. For me dehydration has been a huge issue (my blood pressure was around 78/38 the other day when I went in for my check up) so I'm sure that also prompted her warning re: protein shakes. I probably have a lower threshold right now for anything dehydrating. Hope I didn't alarm you! Take care Eileen

I can feel my hair thinning (I have a lot of hair to boot), but I don't think it's noticable to anyone else. I've been taking the Biotin though so what comes in should be healthier anyway! Susan

Hi Debra, My hair has been falling out for about a month now. It is very steady and see a ton in the sick or shower. I've been using the "Nioxin" shampoo & Conditioner and do see new hair growth. I was told between 3-4 months we begin to lose hair and that is normal. Carly

When I was at the gym today, after my shower I was combing my hair and noticed a TON of hair falling out. So, yes, it is happening to me. I know some people have recommended taking Biotin, but I don't know what form to take that isn't a capsule. Anyone know? Chele
