protein bars
I went to 5 different websites and all 5 gave the nutritional info as follows:
Nutrition Facts:
Serving Size (Bar) 1
Servings Per Box 12
Calories 330
Fat Calories 80
Total Fat (g) 9
Sat. Fat (g) 4.5
Cholesterol (mg) 10
Sodium (mg) 350
Total Carbs (g) 32
Dietary Fiber (g) 2
Sugars (g) 10
Proteins (g) 32
Those carbs are WAY to much, especially the sugars. Something like this could make you ill post-op. Not to mention the calories. That's more than 1/2 of what I consume all day. Maybe a 1/2 of one would be okay once in a while.
Please be careful with your choices postop. The last thing you want is to
all night because of a poor choice.
Dawn

Hi Dawn,
I don't eat those particular bars, but I do like the Luna Bars and the Zone Perfect Bars; 10 G protein and 15 G protein respectively. I am now eating a Zone Perfect bar so I can easily relay the info: Cal 210, fat 7G, Carb 21G and Sugars 13G. I do not get ill on sugars, esp. so little -- and 13 G is actually not that high; it is much less than juice which was recommended by my Dr. (I remember the white grape has about 20G sugar in 8 oz.) I agree though that the calories in the above mentioned post for that bar are too high. I also wonder about the texture, if it is too dense I cannot tolerate eating it as easily (it stays in pouchie too long) and feels heavy. The bars I get are very crispy and airy. Plus, they just had a sale at Henry's Marketplace (Wild Oats) at 99 cents a bar! I stocked up!
Emily
Hi Emily,
Since surgery I have become obsessive compulsive about everything I eat. My doc actually cleared me to eat ANYTHING as long as it's not fried or high in fat. There is no way that is going to happen. I might consume 10 grams a sugar a DAY. I couldn't imagine eating one thing that has that much.
The funny thing is as anal I am about diet and exercise I have not lost any more weight then anyone else. Sometimes I wonder if I'm crazy for acting like this but then I fear that if I allow certain things back into my diet I will loose very slow.
