Shopping your closet??
Hi everyone,
Tomorrow I am headed to the beach for a strenuous meeting (ha!) and some sunshine. This is my first encounter with summer-ish clothing.
As many of you, my weight spiked over the last 5 years and I have clothing that spans 5-6 sizes. This week I pulled tons of stuff from my active closet as they are no longer wearable. Every weekend I go downstairs to my clothing rack and try on items. Often the items still have on the sales tags so I pretend that I am in the store...(yes, I need to get out more often!!)
What are your clothing rituals? Are you yet parting with the old stuff? Are you buying new things, shopping in your closets or trying the thrift stores? What type of style do you want to wear that you have not worn in the past?
Personally, I cant wait for a shirt that shows my tummy and the opportunity to get sunshine on my tummy.
Cheers,
Tiffany

Great post!! I love shopping in my closet! The smallest I've been as an adult was a 12-14, which is currently what I'm at. After I grow out of these sizes, I'll be s.o.l.
My clothing rituals? I bag em up, and give em away! It's such a great feeling. Although, even when I was at my heaviest I still dressed cute (well, as cute as a 275 lb size 20 woman can dress). I actually have emotional attachments to some of my clothing. Does anyone else wish that some of their clothes could just shrink with them?? Granted, I have my gross fat clothes that I was happy to get rid of, but a few piece I was sad to see leave.
I've also been buying a lot as I shrink, mostly in one size smaller than I am now, so I have things to shrink into. What a great feeling to shrink into things, intead of to OUT grow them!
Two days ago I bought a pair of ridiculously expensive jeans (the brand is Seven, if that means anything to anyone here). Frivolous? Maybe. But I bought them one size too small, and they look AMAZING. It's the one clothing item that I'm going to really treat myself to, until I get to my goal. Normally when I shop now I go for cheap stuff, since I won't be in it long.
As far as shirts that could show my tummy? I'd need to drop some serious cash on some plastic surgery before my belly is seeing the light of day in public!!
Enjoy the beach tomorrow (says the girl who is jealous as all heck!)

I am a wellknown shopaholic. Yes I readily admit it. I have many many things that are still in the original packages that I'll never wear because now they are too big
But I have packed them up and am sending them off to another WLS sister to enjoy.
2 boxes and 3 big trashbags full of things, most never worn
I'm glad someone will be able to use them though.
I still have a closet full of things that I am looking forward to getting back into. I do need to get into the back of my closet and bring forward all the summer stuff to see what's there. I have a BIG closet. You never know what you'll find in there

Cool post, Tiffany
I have not been able to part with my bigger clothes yet. My big clothes got me through some times when I couldn't find anything else to fit. I moved them to the back of the closet and often try them on just to see how much bigger they have gotten.
I have so much old clothes in my closet that use to be too little but I'm afriad to wear because they are out of style. I am not big on style. I'm such a plain Jane. I found an old pair of jeans that were stone washed. My partner said
I was just happy they fit. I didn't care what they looked like. No, I didn't wear them
I love thrift stores. I have bought a pair of capri's, denim shorts and a pair of jeans from there. Since I'm still loosing, I'm sticking to thrift stores and clearance racks unless it's really cute. LOL
Capri's was the first thing I wanted to try. I did and now own 2 pair.
The next thing I want is a pair of more fitted jeans ( not tight). No more baggy jeans for me!! Oh and matching bra and panties. My bra size went from a 48 DDD to a 44 D. NO MORE GRANNY PANNIES!

I have always HATED shopping. Everything that I wear is either black, grey or brown. Now I am enjoying looking at clothes. I have even bought a couple of things in bright colors. As far as the old clothes go... I invited a friend over, gave her two hefty bags and told her "help yourself".
the end result... I now own about 4 shirts and 3 pairs of capris. I wish that we had more "discount" stores in my area because I am gonna be nekked soon!
Goood post Tiffany! About a month ago I pulled all of my clothes out and washed everything, come to find out I have alot of clothes and it all didn't fit! No wonder my room had piles of clothes everywhere! I was still in the 28s then... so I hung all of the 28s up along with the dresses that should be hung and sweaters. Closet wasn't too full, but the dresser was!
Then a post from Melissa Morris found its way to me saying she needed clothes... This was about 2-3 weeks ago. I boxed up everything that was too big or that would be too big too soon and had some room to hang clothes up from the dresser. I have Five Boxes packed for Melissa now and need some more empty boxes since I have the size 26s for her
NOW I have 5 bags of size 22-26 clothes in my room that I have yet to find space for in my closet! I can thank my good buddy Mary Fran for those bags (she'll be joining the group asap hopefully) To prepare for them, I've made little tags for the hangers in my closet like at clothing stores. I have Hangers with 22s, 24, 26 and the lone 28 on them! That way I can find my size and not have to meddle through everything again. I haven't done it with the shirts yet, but thats on the books for this weekend.
When cleaning out my closet and dresser I got emotional... these clothes were my buddies! They cost me lot of money (most from Lane Bryant) and now I was too small to wear them! I have decided to keep a pair of khakis as a memento... I was wearing them when that radio guy asked me out he he. But its sad to see my clothes go... but I'm sure Melissa will love them!
I can't wait to be super stylish. I LOVE CLOTHES! I always liked to look nice and chic, but now, I want to look super fly, do I dare say Hot!?
My goal is to be able to turn heads... I hope I'm not sounding to hoity totty right now lol... but wouldn't it be fun to be like a Geisha and stop someone in their tracks with one look? lol LOVE that Movie! I want to wear a 2 piece suit- tankini, halter, string... not going as far as thong, but at goal, who knows!
Enjoy the beach Tiffany! You'll be baring that tummy in no time!
