Gracie
Since many of you have inquired, I thought I would post an update on my precious pearl.
We came home yesterday at 6:30 pm, she was thrilled to be home. She played inside and a little bit outside today. She was very happy and joyful today.
We went to her pediatrician this AM, she has gained one pound since being admitted into the hospital. I think this formula she is being fed through the feeding tube is going to be a trick to helping her regain her weight and give her GI tract a rest. We have a standing appointment on Wednesdays at 9:30 am for the pediatrician every week so he can monitor her weight and height.
I just received delivery (at 11:30 pm) of her third - THIRD freaking feeding pump. I am more than a little annoyed ... but you all got your secret pals because I had to wait for the delivery.
We are not going to give her any milk for the next 30 days but she can have other forms of dairy. She is on what they call a refeeding diet (in some circle it is known as the RICE diet) I will add a new food each day until she has a full menu back into her diet. The doctor wants me to feed her like I would a child just starting solids, into one food at a time so I can monitor any type of "reaction" she may have.
THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING SO CARING AND LOVING. ALL OF YOUR MESSAGES AND WELL WISHES ARE PRICELESS TO ME. The past 8 days were hard, the feeding tube day sucked and you guys helped me get through. I do value each one of you and sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart!
I think this is fragmented but I am tired...and I am sure you get the jist of the message.
Love you all and God Bless!
Jen
ps I posted a few pics of her Easter pics on my profile
Jaci,
It is so funny ... she has to eat high calorie, high fat and high protein diet. Today at the grocery store I purchased sour cream, ice cream and avocado for her. For her and I to share I bought some of those Hormel premade meats. I will eat them without the gravy and give my portion of it to Gracie.
Our goal for her is to gain 1.5 pounds in the next 30 days. She is to have about 900 - 1000 calories per day.
I am glad you like your secret bud!
God Bless,
Jen
Gracie (love her name!) is precious.
I'm so glad she has gained a pound! That is a huge thing!
I always thought it was so ironic. With my 30 weeker (till she was about 4), we always had to add extra cals to her milk and to her foods. Extra cream, sour cream, butter, anything super calorie-dense. I thought it was funny that I was trying to fatten her up while trying to lose my own fat.
I hope she keeps gaining and continues to get stronger all the time!
Chele
