New Pic and Wow Moment
Dan,
Could be.
Ask your doc when you get a chance.
Mine has had me at 120+ from day one.
That "20% Mal-absorption" rate is the high end.
The site I got that from (a DS procedure site that I can't find right now)
Lists a Range from 10% to 20% mal-absorption of Protein for RNY'ers.
That Vandy Sports Med site seems very, very legit.
Some of the "Protein supplement Sales" sites
Have a calculator showing nearly double that need,
But then again they are pushing the stuff.
Like I mentioned, I'm a touch of a skeptic of all thing internet
So check with your doc/nutritionist
And make sure your nutritionist is figuring in for mal-absorption.
Some are "general nutritionists" and totally skim over
Those new challenges that arise from by-passing some of the intestines
And they just have their "numbers" for people with normal plumbing.
Maybe give a little extra protein a try and see if you feel less sluggish.
Best Wishes-
Dx
Dear Diana,
If you go to a height and weight chart, it shows the range of weight for someone 5"6' is 130 to 144 (average frame). So, if we go with 137 as the "ideal" weight, that puts your starting excess weight of 242 pounds. You have lost 205 lbs., or 84.7% of your excess weight. That is great!

If you've got a calculator:
Subtract the amount you've lost from the total amount you had to lose, then divide that amount by the total amount you had to lose and hit the % key. That tells you what % your remaining amount to lose is, so you just subtract that from 100% and you'll have % of the amount you've lost. Make sense?
Geez, I used to have to do that kind of stuff figuring profits for the doctors I worked for ... I'd almost forgotten how to do it!
Thanks y'all for getting me to shake off all the rust from the math part of my brain ... good exercise!!!
Myra
