I need some good vibes!!
Lori,
I hope things work out well with your new trainer.
Rich and I spoke with the one trainer at our Bariatric Reunion event the other night about doing metabolic testing. It sounds fascinating. He said that he doesn't do it on folks less than a year post-op since the nutritionists at the hospital have talked to him about telling folks to eat more calories if he finds that they aren't eating enough. They somewhat hestiate on that. For me, if someone told me I needed more calories, I'd be able to do it. Heck adding 2 pieces of cheese can add 200 calories in a flash. Doh!
So, we may make a date with him in the near future to get the testing done. Don't think my thyroid is an issue since it is functioning fine on it's own. I get blood work done on Friday.

Gentlemen, I wish to apologize for my comments last night. I overreacted. I know, or at least hope, the comments made by others were intended as light hearted fun. God knows I've told my share of jokes before that offended others.
I've been a little on edge lately. I live in Kentucky and I am a state employee. Last week, our governor decided to revoke discrimination protections for gay and lesbian state employees. This policy has been in place for about 5 years. (Our prior governor started the policy). Many gay state employees finally felt comfortable coming out at work and placing pictures of the partners on their desks. Now, we all feel like we have targets on our backs.
Plus, Kentucky has another battle brewing. A small private religious college recently expelled a student because he came out on his myspace page. Well, the Kentucky General Assembly recently passed a budget givng this school $11 million to build a pharmacy school. The governor was under a lot of pressure to veto this appropriation. He did not. He signed the bill authorizing it, yesterday.
Lastly, yesterday was Yom HaShoah. It is the Jewish Day of Rememberance for Victims of the Holocaust. I had just returned from Temple services when I read the post that offended me.
I'm sorry, I was just very touchy yesterday. It's hard being part of two minority groups that many people hate, or just merely tolerate. Sometimes, it thickens your skin. Other times, it makes you supersensitive. Yesterday was one of those supersensitive days.
Again, I apologize for starting some drama on this board. I've been a member of AMOS for 6 years now, and there is no place like it. But, guys, please just go easy on the gay jokes. Gay jokes do not prove your masculinity or heterosexuality. (In fact, when I was in the closet, I was the first to yell "queer".) Gay men are MEN, too.
