Topic: RE: Slow Loser?
It's called Liquid Protein, and I get it from GNC.
It's "flavored" (fruit punch or orange), but you reeeeeaaaalllly need to add Splenda to it to make it drinkable. LOL

Thanks for responding to my post. You are encouraging. It's nice to know I am not alone in feeling this way. This liquid protein, is it flavored? Do you know what it's called? How does it taste? Thanks!

Boost is loaded with sugar and carbohydrates (45 grams?). You may want to switch to a protein drink that has fewer carbs and sugars.
Topic: RE: Slow Loser?
I wrote the same exact post when I was 3 weeks post-op!! LOL
I was (am) a "slow" loser as well. My surgery was 11/2/06, and I have lost 53 lbs. so far. In the beginning, I lost at the same pace as you. It's all relative, really. You've lost 21 pounds in three weeks--that's 1 pound per day! The good thing about being a "slow" loser is that I'm not really having "the skin issue."
Are you walking? Very important!!! Are you getting your protein in? Very important as well. What has been working for me is to add liquid protein to my water. (I get the liquid protein from GNC.) I mix 4 tablespoons of the liquid protein to my bottled water (16 oz.) and some Splenda. Voila--flavored water with 24 grams of protein!
Now I'm going to tell you what everyone told me: Keep up the good work--you're doing GREAT!
Topic: RE: DRAIN!!
Howdy there...I am one of Dr. Naaman's patients too. That drain WAS the pits. I left my big bandage on because I was scared to death I'd pull it out when I took the badage off. I was shocked when they removed it becuase that thing is like 18" long inside of you...If you pull it at all it is not going anywhere. It also has asome stictches hoding it in place (the brown thing you see) For now, I would buy some sterile tape and tape that booger down until Friday. Believe me, Friday when Julius takes that thing out you might just hear angels singing in the background, it's the most amazing thing in the world. Ahhhh new life!

YEAHHH DONNA!! Today is YOUR day!! I'll be swinging chickens for you! Save some room on the loser's bench for me!!
Topic: DRAIN!!
I know I'm being a pansy, but this drain is freaking me out! I am 4 days post-op (Lap RNY) and I took the large bandage off my drain incision and put a couple of bandaids over the opening, but it's so sensitive and gives me the willies...I'm afraid I'm gonna pull something! I was getting pretty comfortable with the drain with the large bandage over it but I needed to pull that off and clean the area, but now it opened up a new issue (no pun intended). Any suggestions to ease the sensitivity until I get it out on Friday? Thanks!
Topic: RE: 5 or 6 days post opp and what are you eating?!?!
I am 6 days out as of today and my doc told me not to have anything but my boost, ensure, skim milk, water, crystal light and tea. How is it that yall can have applesauce and yogart and all the other stuff?
Topic: Today's the Day!!
Well, my bags packed, I'm clean (inside & out)
and disinfected. Just waiting for the time to leave for the hospital. Check-in is at 9; surgery is at 10. I don't think I'm scared....just really nervous (or is that the remains of the citrate of magnesium?)
Wish me luck! I'll post in a few days.
