I don't have any pain or visible veins so it must all be on the inside. All there is is the visible swelling. No aches at all just big shins and knankles.
I'm looking for stockings but I'm having trouble finding the style type and color locally. I'll have to order them because I refuse to look like an old woman in support hose. Thanks for the input.

I think the reason you are having more problems now is that you have lost weight and your legs are changing inside. That is kinda what they told me about my varicose veins and why they bothered me more now than ever. It's kinda like the saggy skin thing I think, when you lose weight in your legs, the veins stick out more and tend to get irritated. The compression socks are really good and will help with that heavy achy feeling. Make sure you get good quality ones from a health supply place. Keep us posted on how you are doing! I know it's no fun at all!

I've gained ten pounds. My ankles change from fat to knankles but never normal anymore. This has been going on for a month now. I'm waking up with swelling which is totally new.
My doc says its vascular damage from years of obesity causing a backup of blood and fluids because the valves don't operate properly. I need compression stockings daily to combat this. What I don't get is why now?
Right after surgery it improved, even went away completely. Then last month it became worse than ever. I'm on diuretics also but still my body water is up 10% over last month. No sign of kidney trouble yet I drink water but don't potty much.
Anyone else experience this? How do you treat the swelling? Do compression garments help? Any supplements work for this?

This week on Monday, I had vericose vein closure with ligation. The procedure went really well, but the doc had to make an incision that wasn't planned at the top of my thigh. I have to wear compression hose and the hose are rubbing against the incision so it's still pretty painful. On a really positive note, I have never been able to get the full benefit of compression hose as my thighs were always too big and the hose rolled down all the time. I am in a pair of XL hose now and they go all the way to the top of my thighs and don't roll down at all. That was a WOW moment! So, my legs are pretty badly bruised right now and really achy, but I think it's going to be so much better for me when all the bruising and achiness goes away. My legs have always bothered me and since I have lost weight, the veins were sticking out even further and getting hit more often, so the pain was worse for awhile. I am so excited to have had the chance to fix my body that has been so badly damaged for all these years. I plan to now maintain it in pristine condition for the 2nd half (best half) of my life!'
I have been stuck at 102 lbs weight loss for along time now and feel it's time to kick it in gear again! I know I can do this! I have come so far and don't plan on stopping now!
