Happy surgiversary to you all. Hope you are doing great! I predict you are
!!
I have recovered from my gall bladder surgery...really nothing much to it. But of course, I only had ONE, so nothing to compare to.
I am down 122 lbs. from day of RNY surgery. My top size down from 28 to a Misses Large (16?). Pants, well, that is harder to guage. After all, I hadn't worn "real" jeans, you know, the kind with a
for several years pre-op. I wore the elastic waist jeans....in a size 26. Anyway, my "real" jeans are a 18 today, but those are a bit loose. I just picked up some 16's.
I am learning to embrace the loose skin. My bat wings, thigh wings, panni. I have decided that if I ever want to give up my day job, and be a superhero, I will be Ms. Airborne, the FLYING SQUIRREL
You know her, Rocky's
redneck cousin.
Seriously, I have succumbed to the idea that I will NOT be one of those persons who's skin bounces back like a rubber ball. (wow, that's an image). Genetics only carry ya so far! The rest is just exhausted skin that is telling me, "Hell, go for the tuck! You deserve it!" So barring any other internal organs needing to be removed, that will be my next surgery.
--> No, that is not my butt, but I think mine is getting there!
For those of you who have been absent from this board, AND PAM IN N.C. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!
Know that I'm thinking of you, and hoping all is well.
Hugs,
Kathy

Every morning in Africa , a gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed.
Every morning inAfrica , a lion wakes up.
It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

You've done fantastic and so quickly too. Now you'd better get healthy and force that protein.
There is more than whey out there. Try protein shots/ bullets, small maybe 3 oz at Walmart. There is also egg white protein, I use JayRobb, hemp, soy, rice, and gemma from peas. Many are at GNC and Vitamin Shoppe. All are available at Netrition.com. Find something you can tolerate if not a shake then a high protein food. You don't have to like it. Treat it as medicine you need to be healthy.
Enjoy your family home comming and please keep posting.

Hello everyone!!! I have been one of the members that read and don't reply to anything so I decided to change that. I hit my 6 month anniversary the 24th of August. I weighed 283 the day of surgery and as of today I weigh 170!! 113 pounds gone forever. I excercise everyday and I am training for a 5k. Saturday my hubby is coming home from Iraq and it will be the first time he seen me since before surgery, I am excited!!! I have about 20 more pounds to lose before I am at goal. My only problem I have is protein, but I think it is better. My levels are life threatening. So I am hoping for better numbers!!! My hair is coming out horribly.......

Applause for taking action. Keep us posted. Much better to go elsewhere than to sit by the phone in pain.

Doesn't success feel great! You've one so well. I post details about what I do in my profile. It has been a struggle. Check the tag The Metabolic Challenge. Last month was a good one. I'll be updating later this week.

Hey, 75 lbs since surgery ain't too shabby. Its hot as hell here too but the gym is nice and cool. I plan to start swimming soon just for a change.

I hope you get answers soon and also feel better as well. Definitely push the doctor to do a ct scan and see what is going on internally. If your doctor doesn't want to do anything contact your insurance company and see if you can go see another doctor. It sounds like your symptoms got masked with medication for a minute and thats all. I wish you the best keep us updated so we know how your doing.
Wish you the best,

I agree with Robin. What I now know were gall bladder attacks, were "mis-diagnosed" as acid reflux, possible irritation. Did not get the gall bladder dx until I was in such pain I was hooked up to IV hydromorphine. Had my gall bladder out on the 28th.
Also, nexium and prilosec are essentially the same drug. Prilosec's prescriptive rating with FDA expired, then it became available OTC. Nexium is by the same company, and basically same drug, but available by rx only. (I have a good friend who studied to be pharmacist before going into nursing...I got lots of good scoop!).
Only way to dx a gallbladder is with ultrasound. They will look for stones and/or sludge. I didn't have stones that were visible, but the sludge was at the high end of normal. Sludge is like gravel compared to a gall stone...and can turn into stones.
ok....this was a mouthful. Pain is your body saying, "hey...check me out!" Take care of yourself, don't dismiss pain. Don't necessary panic, but don't dismiss it. You are too valuable!
Hugs,
Kathy
