Things are going really well here.  I have slowed down with weight loss quite a bit, but not letting it get me down!  I started school again today (4 classes) plus I work full time.  I get up at 6am, walk the dog 2 miles, go to work, home, cook, clean, schoolwork, jeez!  No wonder I am tired all the time, but ya know what?  I FEEL AWESOME!  I am so in love with living now it's amazing!  I have even kicked my obsession with the scale and will just get to goal when I get there.  I still want to lose about 65 more lbs, but will just take it as it comes!
Congrats to everyone else too!  We have lost a boatload of weight collectively and we should all be very proud of that!  And ya know what else?  We are truly WORKING at it, it's not just an easy out!
Hugs to all!

Been dealing with the ups and downs of this all. One minute I am losing weight the next minute I am at a stall. It's crazy for me.I exercise as much as I can and sometimes I just don't feel like doing anything. Last week I had a cold so I was in bed from monday through friday morning then back to work. I need to get myself motivated again because I was walking 4-6 miles a day. The weather is finally getting cooler in the 70's and sunny with a breeze so I know I will take advantage of this weather and get myself back out there and start walking again. I have lost only 72 pounds  my start weight was 276 my weight now 204 and my goal weight is 145 but my doctors goal weight for me is 170. I made a mistake there for a while I was eating and drinking together but then I spoke to my nutritionist and I lost within the first few days. I just am thankful that I lost the weight I did and will be even more happy when some more of this weight comes off. My nutritionist says I am no longer on a diet eat what I want but make sure I get my liquids and protein in.I have found that I am lacking in protein so I may be going back to shakes in the morning and the evening.Anyone have any great info to get things rolling again I will definitely be looking forward to hearing some.
Many wishes and Blessing to all the February peeps!

Hello You guys. I had my surgery the last week of Feb. I was at 355 and right now linguring at 230. So about 125lbs gone in about 6 months. I need to up my work out and I woke up today ready to motivate myself to do what I need to do to get under 200 by the end of the year. It WILL happen, I am NOT going to be lazy and make excuses for not working out. So i got on the elliptical today and now I feel better. I will continue this so I can make it a habit! You guys are great!

Hey Kathy,

Huggs to you.  Hope you have a speedy recovery.  Take good care of yourself.  Hey you lost a small organ.  That has to be a weight loss?

Venting is part of support.   Lord knows I've done enough of it right here.

With your iron low you will feel like crap.  I was feeling pretty ****ty for a while and I doubled my iron for over a month.  Huge difference.  I also upped my protein from the nutritionists target of 71-89 to 100-120.  I loose better and feel better this way.

I guess things could be better over here. I was 6 months out on the 16th. I've lost 90lbs, only 10# to my Dr's goal but somehow I feel like I'm letting myself down. I know I'm doing great but I still feel like a failure. I'm getting extrememely bored with the same old food all the time. I'm getting in anywhere from 80-100g protein for the day but I'm going to try to drink a protein shake every morning just to get me going for the day. I am deficient in B1 and B12 and my iron stores are in the toilet. I can't seem to drag my butt out of bed everyday and my hair is falling out by the handfulls. I just feel like crap and just need a swift kick in the butt to get me on track again! Sorry, just needed to vent

'easy' comments can only come from an uninformed jackass.  Interesting how people with faced lifts, nose jobs and lipo don't get those 'easy' comments.  Theirs is not a health issue so why surgery purely  for the sake of their own vanity?  Surely they could find another way to improve their looks.  It all comes down to fat predjudice.

First off it's been a long six months.  It will be 7 months on Sept 2, 2009.  I have lost only 85 pounds from my heaviest weight and I of course want more.  I started at 353 pounds so I feel like I still have a long way to go because some people started where I am now.  I will keep up the work and change things as I see fit to get the maximum benefits out of this lifestyle change for me. I fall off the band wagon sometimes for sure as I have started back to having some of the unhealthy cravings again.  I try for sure to stay away but find things that satisfy the urge but without the unhealthy side effect.  It is a long hard road and if one more person tell me that the surgery was the easy way to do it I am going to birth a baby.  Hang in there team and we can do this.

Just checking in with everyone.  How are we doing now that we've all hit that six month surgiversary?  I miss my Feb 2009 peeps.  We can't let this board die.

I was feeling down when I hit that 180 day mark.  With the support of my OH friends I've ditched the surgeon/ nutritionists plan for good; let go of feeling guilty for non compliance; and I'm doing what works and only that.

My diet includes many no no's per my bariatric group.  But, I've lost 10.8 lbs in 22 days doing it my way vs only 4.8 lbs in the 44 days between posting my first 50 lbs lost and my six month surgiversary.  My work outs remain the same, but diet wise I'm taking my ques from body building websites and cycling my calories and carbs while using RMR as a guide for my caloric intake.

This week I broke the 170 lb mark and last week I broke through the obesity barrier.  My six month follow up is on Thursday and I'll be wearing a pair of size 8 petite black slacks.  I'm not telling anyone to ditch doctors orders, but pay attention to your instincts.  Back in March I felt I was doing this all wrong.  I proved it in June but I wanted to be a good compliant girl. All I did was waste time and cause myself unecessary stress.

So catch me up!!!  What's happening with you???

Thanks for the well wishes everyone! My gall bladder is no more, and surgery went fine. Lasted about an hour, some scar tissue, but still lap procedure. I was home by 7 p.m. due to rush hour traffic and being 1 1/2 hours from surgery center. Slept in a recliner all night.

I stepped on the scale this morning, and was up 6 lbs! Then of course I had to remind myself that I was pumped full of saline and carbon dioxide, etc., and assured by the nurse that this is all water weight. BUT STILL.....it plays a game with your mind!

Anyway, 4 small incisions, one was done at the site of one from my RNY.

Oh, Cheryl....DOC LANDERS says to say "Hi" back to ya. And I didn't have Eric, I had Bob (Nurse Anesthetist).

I'm anxious to get all healed up, I have a road trip planned to Portland and Clackamas for Labor Day weekend!

Thanks you all---
Hugs,
Kathy
