Abusing the Tool
I had to go to the hospital today (to give them some money.)
There was a women sitting next to me as I waited for the patient coordinator to get there, and about 5 minutes later, my Doctor came over to talk to her. (After seeing me and asking me what I was doing there). Anyway, he had obviously just come out of surgery and was talking to this woman about her (daughter or friend - I'm not sure which).
Now, I don't like to eavesdrop, but they were seriously right next to me and there were no other open seats, although I admit to wanting to hear my doc in action. (Bad Witch!)
The woman just out of surgery was a Lap Band patient and the Dr. had just removed the band. She was complaining of not being able to drink. Doc said there was no reason why she shouldn't have been able to drink. Everything looked fine. The opening was right where it should be and there was no blockage at all.
Then he started saying how just after her six months checkup, the Doc had walked by her at the deli and saw her ordering a grilled cheese sandwich and a large drink. Then friend/mother then told him that the woman had discovered recently that she could eat chocolate and had been splurging on that because of the stress in her life (Most of us know you can eat sweets with a lapband - she had no clue). The doctor believed the fact that she couldn't drink anything was purely an emotional reaction - and had nothing to do with any physical problem.
The reason I bring this up is - we CAN cheat our way around this surgery. There are ways to get around all surgery types. So be SURE to
work on the head stuff too.... And figure out what you'll do when stres****s! Because it will - and our old friend food is no longer available.
