Great Support!
I have been reading some of the posts...I too have been preparing things in case of severe complications. I have had multiple surgeries but this time like many of you, I have my doubts. This is a wonderful message board, full of support. I am so glad to have found this board. Just reading posts to others makes me feel like I am part of the family. My surgery in March 18th. I have had to stop taking my hormones so I tend to get a little emotional....those of you who take them can probably relate! I will be going alone to have my surgery. I will travel about 3 hours and hope I will be able to drive myself home after being released from the hospital. They assured me it was o.k. for me to come along. My husband works off shore and my children are in another state. Unfortunately my friends would not support me in this decision so I will lean on you guys to do that for me. Say a prayer for me! I have made this decision for ME. Best of luck to you all and thanks for listening! Linda C
Even though it is not the BEST thing to do, you will manage fine I am sure...us women are strong! Especially when we are doing something we know is right for us. Are you having Lap? I think it will be a little less tender so I hope you are....Good luck and I am going Tuesday, a couple days before you, so we should be reporting back about the same time.
You are am amazingly strong person. Even though you will be technically capable of driving yourself home, please, please look into some other means of getting there. Often, you can contract with a cab company for an attractive rate if you set it up as a time call. Or, is there a bus between your hospital and home town? If it's a splurge, believe me, now is the time.
Good luck! A lot of my friends are acting strange, too. There is this undercurrent of hostility and disapproval from some of them, though others are great. For those who can't take it, well, they don't have to drag this body and its comorbidities around every day, so....

Wishing you a speedy journey and recovery to the other side. will meet you back on the message board next week. I know doing it alone is difficult, I thought I was having to do that as well but I was determined. I will be thinking about you and all the others having surgery this week.

Linda, welcome to the Marchers and we look forward to hearing from you after your surgery. If there is any other means of someone driving you home after the surgery, that would be your best bet. I hope you can find someone. You live in Gulf Port Huh? I was raised around thre (well Mobile, AL) If I were still there I would drive ya!! I know that is no help now though. Good Luck and you will be in my prayers!
