Hi everyone. I am 6 days post-op and feeling pretty great, except I am beginning to get concerned about one thing -- I haven't had a BM since Wednesday (today is Sunday). I am starting every day with 4 oz. of prune juice but so far, nothing. Can anyone give me some advice on this? Thanks. Maureen

Maureen, First off, congrats on becoming a loser! Secondly, I wouldn't worry too much about it. I'm going about every 4 days or so. Think about it, we're on liquids. There's not much we can get rid of that's solid. As long as you're still passing gas, I wouldn't worry at all about it. -naomi minus 12 pounds and counting

Maureen, I had this discussion with a nurse at the hospital who had this surgery. He said he had a BM about once a week. Me, on the other hand, have one about every other day. It will come but consider what little you are taking in. Bethany AKA Da Offishal Riddler and Bertha 12 Days into NewPouch and feeling great! -25 lbs!!!! Hi Maureen, My doctors have said that the anesthesia shuts down your colon temporarily, so it's mainly a matter of all the drugs leaving your system. It took me 6 days and then (not to get too graphic) everything was liquidy, if you know what I mean. It's only because you aren't intaking any solids. Baby wipes are good to use around this time. It sounds like you're doing everything right, so just give it time. It'll happen. Eve

Mo Fiend! You're doing that liquid boogie already, right? Well think about it: liquid in, liquid out. Solid in, solid out. As long as you're 'going' that's what counts. At 5 days post-op I'm still on clear fluids and, well, picture Mt. Visuvius when I hit the toilet. Not a pretty sight (or sound). But it all makes sense when ya figure the in/out perspective. Actually, I've now figured out exactly how I want to re-do my bathroom...been in there so long I now have my plans! I'm so excited for you, Mo! You're creepin' up on it! Got a chair waiting here for ya right next to me inside Newpouch city limits. But...that's only for a rest. If you're hanging with me, you're gonna be walkin' more than sitting! As Martha would say, "it's a good thing!" It actually makes me feel good and energized. Go figure! Nah, you're status quo. Just keep it up (or out, as the case may be...BWAHAHAH!!) Oh, you are tooooo funny! Thanks for your advice, Kimmer, but I'm not goin' "number 2" at all! From the responses I've had, there's no need to worry. I feel great today, 7 days out! Lots of energy, and the pain is very minimal. Sleeping on my side all night long, what a boost! I am walking 3 times a day, 10 minutes each time, on the treadmill, which equates to about .75 mile. Kimmer, I feel like my life is just beginning! Thanks for your funny note! Maureen
