I never see anyone really talk about the pain after surgery...I'm nervous
First of all, hello everybody. I have been reading posts and what a wonderful thing to be a part of. A little about myself, I am 28 yrs old and just had surgery on March 8th.
I was having a lot of abdominal pain, and even pain with deep breaths, are you guys experiencing some of the same?
Getting out of bed and and physical activity is still pretty painful. I never thought I was a wuss when it came to pain... but.... maybe....
I am doing only liquids, no BM yet. Will keep in touch.
It has been long enough that you might feel better if you tried a glycerin suppository. I suspect that you at least need to rid yourself of gas. It took me a while to get going too, but I sure felt better once I did. After that first time, things kept going on their own.
I am almost 2 weeks post op and am blessed to have absolutely no pain at this point. On day 5 and 6 I still was taking an occasional pain pill, but that was the last of it. Everyone is different though.

Hi! We have alot in common. I'm 29 and had my surgery on march 8. Yes it is painful especially the right side. I have liquid BM but I had irratable bowel before surgery. I have alot of gas in my tummy too. Not much comes out but it sounds like the Titanic sinking inside. I am up to full liquids. Just finished clear liquids. Nexy Sunday I get to start soft foods. My problem is I can't figure out if I'm hungry or if its all in my head. But, I need to chew food. I hate this liquid stuff. Atleast now I can eat pudding and yogurt and stuff. I have lost 12 pounds though, which I'm extatic about. But back to the pain. Mine has gotten better every day. It still definately there though. Bending over is terrible. Hang in there girl!!

Got gas? WALK WALK WALK WALK WALK!!! Really. At first you may have a stumble TRYING to get those first two steps going, but once you do, just keep pacing (and I used to HATE how my ex-husband paced...he should see me now!).
I've found that about 5 minutes after Earl starts rumbling, the ga****s, then about 10-15 minutes after that, it's time to make a run for the bathroom, and it's all resolved. I'm blessed, as I've not had a BIT of gas PAIN so far, and pre-op, my gas pains were like labor pains (I had IBS, too).
But I've found how beneficial walking is to resolving a LOT of these symptoms.

Vanessa, I had my surgery 12 days ago and am still in pain a little. I think my worst is when I am wearing pants because if something touches where my incisions were it hurts. At first it did hurt to take a deep breath but it gets better daily. I am at the point, now where I only need pain meds on occasion and that is on days where I think I worked myself too hard. You will do fine but then again if you are very worried about it you may want to contact the nurse or surgeon to ask if it is normal. Good Luck

12 Days into NewPouch and feeling great!
-25 lbs!!!! Yayyyy
A riddle a day will keep the Marchers pounds AWAY!

Well, I had an open rny on the 10th and feel really good but do have some discomfort at times. My only pain comes when I get hunger pangs but it's not unbearable. Getting in and out of bed is getting easier but I'm sure will take a little while. I have a different aftercare plan in that I'm allowed soft foods, so I have just started that today. I had a couple soft bm's already but my surgeon didn't have me on a liquid diet or anything to clean me out beforehand. I almost wonder if that is maybe more helpful because it actually has my bowels moving more now than maybe someone else's is.
It'll get easier though. Just hang in there!
