Hey all! I hope you had a good weekend. Jay and I celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary yesterday -- we had a really good time! Now for my questions. I've been thinking (and yes, it hurts ) about what to wear home from the hospital. My jeans are loose, but they're boycut, and I don't want to irritate my incisions. The other pants I have are the ones I wear to work -- they're snug right now, and if my abdomen is going to be swollen, there's no way they'll fit. I was thinking about my most comfortable clothes, and I can only think of my pajamas. They're loose, and the pants have an all-elastic waist. What did you folks wear home? And what kind of underwear? Ever since I got really heavy, I've worn 'granny panties'. But I saw a couple of ladies mention that those were uncomfortable after surgery because of the high waist. My surgery is still two weeks away, but with work and church activities, I'm pretty busy, so I want to get stuff washed and packed before it all comes down to the last minute. What say you? Hugs, -Marcie

I wore a HUGE jumper with a HUGE 'turtleneck' underneath. Underwear? You're kidding, right? Nope, didn't even THINK 'bout it. BRING A PILLOW! That pillow up against my belly saved me on the ride home...I just put the pillow against my gut, pulled the seatbelt over it, and felt like a little baby all snugged in warm, cozy, and SOFTLY PADDED! Hi Marcie!! I am having my surgery 3-31 and i have decided to wear pajamas home from the hospital. I figured that it will be the most comfortable for me. So I went out and bought a new pair, since most of mine are old. This will be the last XXL size of clothing that I will ever buy!!! As for underwear.....I am going to bring some, but I don't know if I am going to wear them home!!! I hope this helps!

Underwear did not bother me. My incision stops above my waist. Just don't take tight ones! I wore sweat pants home (same ones I wore to the hospital). The only thing that bothers me is a bra. The bottom elastic hits the top of my incision. So I skipped it! Joy

Oh, I'll still need to wear underwear -- my bladder constantly leaks (I sure hope *that* goes away when I get this weight off!). Just wonder if I should buy a pair or two that are larger, or what... Thanks for the advice, so far -- it really helps! Hugs, -Marcie

My leaking stopped at surgery. It may have been the hysterectomy that did it though. That was one of the biggest pleasant surprises! Joy

I'm just waring some stretchy pants home and a big t-shirt. I'm not trying to impress anyone. I just want comfort. As far as the underware goes, I was told to bring some in case I start my period. (I'm due 3 days after surgery so I'm sure I will ) Oh well. I was also told that a lot of women start even if it's not time. Good luck. Cindy

I had a 6 hour ride home so I wanted to be really comfortable. I bought some of those pajama bottoms with a drawstring in an XXL and tied the drawstring below my belly button. I havent wore a bra in about a week, but I dont think the bottom of the bra would hit my incision line. I had underwear on but only because I started my period the night before I was discharged and you have to stick the pad to something, I wore a pair of my own and just pulled the front down below my stomach, they were fine! ~Nicole 6 days post-op -22 pounds!! 216/115/194

If you HAVE to wear undies I would invest in a 3 pack of hanes bikini cut in one of the larger sizes or if you want to spend a few extra bucks go to Lane Bryant's and pick up some lowriding undies.... I definately would not want anything to rub that incision!!!

I wore panties and rolled them down under my incisions(I had Lap RNY).I had stretch jeans I wore to the hospital and I rolled them down too. I had a long shirt on so noone knew. You will find what is comfortable for you. Good luck LaDonna -20lbs
