My first solo trip out of the house!
Hey, all...
Just feel too good to keep this to myself.
As you probably know, I live alone. This was a big concern of mine pre-op: what if I need a prescription refilled? What if I run out of something? The only person I'd feel free to call for help is my best friend who's CONSTANTLY running, and it'd have to be a DARNED GOOD emergency to call her for help...just hate asking people for stuff, ya know? It's the only part of living alone that's not fun: not having anyone to help out if you need something...
So I had a prescription that needed refilling this morning. I'm feeling so incredibly well and healthy and energized that I figured I'd go myself. I've NO pain whatsoever, just feel kind of 'tight' around my gut...maybe this is 'cuz I've been sleeping on my side since the 1st nite home, and last nite slept ON MY STOMACH with no problems? I'm just amazed at my progress (as is everyone who's seen me or talked to me...). I'm especially amazed at my lack of any pain: all my life my Sis has had me convinced that I'm a wimp with pain, that since I've never birthed a baby, I don't know what pain is, etc. Well, a few years ago it dawned on me that I've been in CHRONIC pain for so many years now that Sis knows NOT of what she speaks. I truly expected to feel a lot of pain post-op, but after the 1st day, I was fine. But to have NO pain now is just inexplicable to me...how blessed am I??? Yup, I'm truly feeling better today than I've felt in about 5 years!!!
So it's a gorgeous day in Michigan, mid-30s (unlike tomorrow where we'll be getting 1-3" of snow...sheesh...), and I get into the car: not a problem! (I drive a Camaro and the seats are ON the floor - not easy getting in to/out of on a GOOD day...) Driving was NOT a problem at all! After picking up my 'script, I went to Meijers, sort of like a super-Walmart...HUGE building. Picked up some cottage cheese (way in the back of the store, of course), browsed around a bit...not in any hurry. Did fine again. Not tired, no pain, still have energy to burn. So I went to Sam's Club: my FAVORITE 'water' is Iced Botanicals, and last time I was there pre-op they were out. Well, Sam's had CARBONATED Iced Botanicals, and the stock dude put it in my cart for me, thus no lifting. Cashier called a parking lot dude to put it in my car for me (I told her I'd had surgery Tuesday, can't lift, got into conversation, her sister had WLS about a year ago but went thru ALL KINDS of bad stuff afterward, and the cashier was amazed I was shopping this soon post-op...). Drove home - again, no problem (seatbelt didn't even bother my stoma*****isions...too amazing!). Brought the case of Iced Botanicals into the house four bottles at a time with a shopping bag - no lifting allowed!. I shook up one bottle of each flavor, opened the caps, and am letting them sit, want to see if they go flat. They're my favorite flavored water besides "Pulse", plus they're vitamin enhanced (so is Pulse).
Anyway, just wanted to tell you all 'bout my first venture out ALONE! I'm feeling truly GOOD, not just 'fine' or 'alright'. I'm excited for the Marchers when they get to this point 'cuz you're going to be so jubilant at how you feel!! This has truly been a life-altering surgery already for me.
Gotta go call Sears...problems with my treadmill (monitor isn't working). I'm praying for everyone to enjoy their life as much as I am today, and am praying for our pre-ops/currently-getting-operated Marchers that their experience will be as wonderful as mine is so far!!!

yeah, I know what you mean. Wondering how I am gonna change the kitty litter for 4 weeks. Maybe one piece of sand at a time.
I do not think I will have much trouble with anything else. Maybe an elf will come over and vaccum while I am in the hospital.
Glad you are doing so well Kimmer.

Sweetheart...
If I had the $$, I'd hop a plane, hang with you in the hospital, and take care of you AND yer kitties for the next few weeks!!
But alas, I'm financially challenged, so I'll just have to PRAY for a faerie or elf to arrive!!

Woa Kimmer,
Glad to hear that you're doing sooo well. I think you're just to Honrey to keep down.
But, now that you've had a big adventure, get a little rest will ya
-- you're making me tired and I haven't even had surgery yet.

Nope...had Lap RNY. In fact, I have to keep looking at my incisions to assure myself that this wasn't a dream (I have quite realistic dreams) and that I really DID have major surgery!! One of my 2 best friends called this morning and was speechless, said "Oh, man, how cool...now you have 5 weeks off to ENJOY instead of GET THRU!!". She was totally amazed, too...she's seen me in such debilitating pain for so long that she was actually crying while we were talking...I'm laughing, she's crying.
BTW, all my incisions except for the drain hole are closed and healed. I really believe it's 'cuz I've been snarfing down protein shakes every day since late August in preparation for this, and in addition to the vitamins, my body was well prepared for a healing process. Well, that, and my God is gracious. But I'm tellin' ya...PROTEIN ROCKS!!!
Spring is coming now, and I actually get to FULLY ENJOY it instead of enjoy bits of pieces of it after work. Get to sit on the deck, play in the dirt (garden...within reason), walk in the fresh air...how much more fortunate can one person get? I feel so spoiled!!!
