First Post-Op Appt.
Hey everyone!! I was just writing because I have my first post-op appt. tomorrow. I do not know why but I have this fear he will not be pleased with my weight loss and he will not be pleased with my diet. I have lost 28 lbs but according to their scale it will be 22 lbs because I gained 6 lbs since I saw my surgeon last. I am sure they will be happy, though.
I am still amazed I go and weigh myself and I am LOSING instead of GAINING. What a wonderful feeling. You know what was funny... Yesterday when I went in to my PCP, I noticed how comfortable I was in the chairs as opposed to before I was very uncomfy and hunted for a chair without arms. I started talking loudly to my hubby saying "Look, I can fit" LOL.
Anyways, question...should I go by my surgeons scale which will say 22lbs or by my PCP which says 28 (again because I had gained 6 prior to surgery) Talk to you all soon! I will update you from the surgeons!!

14 Days into NewPouch and feeling great!
-28 lbs!!!! Yayyyy
A riddle a day will keep the Marchers pounds AWAY!

Bethany, Id go with the 28lbs. That is technically what you have lost even though thats not what the surgeon has. My Dr. has me as losing 18.1 but I had gained some weight before surgery to and so its a grand total of 20lbs. You are doing sooo good. Just think that is weight WE WILL NEVER GAIN BACK!!!!!!!!!!

-20lbs forever

I'd go with the number that makes you happy. I felt the same way but I do realize that one of the things we need to work on is less fear of what people will think and more satisfaction with what we think. I'm sure, as the scale continues to come down, all our confidence will pick up. After all, we have a lifetime of up/down, up/down to overcome, so down/down is a weird experience.
I confessed to a friend my first week post op that I didn't really believe I was going to lose weight. She looked at me and said, "You're nuts." I'm, like, "Well, yes, what would be your point?"
As long as you're following his program, your surgeon is going to to be happy. If you're having trouble with compliance, I urge you to seek some help with that and direct a lot of compassion to yourself. I found a really nice workbook on amazon.com, which a friend who had this surgery two years ago used, "This is NOT Brain Surgery...But There is a Magic Pill" by Dr. Teri Kai Holtzclaw. She had the surgery herself and so speaks from personal experience as well as treatment experience, it has some self help written excercises that you can do all by yourself. It's beautifully written and heartfelt, too.
