Insurance Blues Plzz ADVICE AND PRAYERS NEEDED

I had. "notice i said" I had a surgery date of March 22, but my insurance company MMOH has been draggin there feet, calling everyday since Feb 9th I have got nothing but the run around first they said they needed Letter of Medical Ness, and 5 yr Weight History so i went to PCP doctor and picked it up. The nurse was like 5 yrs of weight, she said I dont have time to go through all of your chart and get those, so she said you are more than welcome to sit here and copy them down and i will sign it. So after sitting there 3 hours and going through my chart i finally got them all. She signed it. I sent those in on the 9th of feb..waited waited the 19th of feb I call and was told all they needed to complete was a diet history 5 yrs. I was like WHAT........so i went back to my PCP and once again she told me to write them all down and she would sign it...sent that in... waited waited... I call on the 15th of March to see what the hold up was cause i had been told over and over again thats all they needed. Well the customer service finally called the woman handling my case she said she needed my BMI HT and Wt from surgerons office ... So I call them they sent a fax with it but said they do not do that from there office they let the dietitican make that call.. can we say stall......... so i call today told them, look you got all you wanted and then some can you just not let me know if you can approve or not. The customer service called the lady who is handling it, she sent a message back she could not possiable get to it til next week, which she knows will put me passed surgery date... So my hubby gets pissed and calls DOH in Ohio talks to the big woman who bids our insurance explained what was going on.. I take it she called and chapped my case workers butt... Well low and behold guess who called me... THE CASE WORKER.....At first she was real nice even said she was gonna go ahead and lift this...I was under the inpression that ment approve me.. Then she just kept talking the more she did the madder she got...know mind you at this point i have not said a word..she kept on saying i have spent way to much time on your case and made way to many calls..WHAT CALLS BS...is what i thinking to myself. then she said and yeah... your diet history and weight history are not on a doctors note pad.. why is that.. well i explained and well it never was a problem before you got those on the 9th of feb and never said you needed anything else as far as they where concerned..she snaps and says I am not going to finish this case i am sending it over to the man you does appeals and let him make the call...I was left speechless..I said so are you saying i need a lawyer she said NO I AM NOT SAYING THAT. And ends it with this will take about another 2 weeks.. So I dont know what to do or think. I am not giving up with out a fight. This is my life she has in her hands. I just dont see how she can do this to me ...If any one knows of someone else i can call... i heard we can call the Insurance Commissioner, does any one know how i can get in touch with them??? thanks for letting spill my guts out here..I am just so lost and cannot belive insurance is doing this to me... Misty .. Hang in there! Sounds like someone (at the insurance company) doesn't understand the concept of customer service!! You have today and tomorrow, see what calls you can make to get it through so you don't have to cancel your date on Monday! Hugs, Mo

Is there someone at your surgeon's office who can step in where you left off? I'd let them take a shot at it next. And you are right, you may need a lawyer, or you might just report back the conversation to the person your husband talked to. If they are already angry, you don't have much to lose there, but they do with a big insurance contract. I will be praying for you... Joy

Awwww Misty, I'm soooo sorry to hear of your troubles. You need to look in the phone book under the governmnt section and find the state insurance commissions number. It's a state agency. I would definately give them a call and turn them in (it might not help, but it definately would not hurt) I used to work in a docs office (for almost 10 years) and we made a few of those calls ourselves. Why does it have to be sucha pain in the a**? I wish I could give you some good advice but I dont know what to say. You have done so much already. I would call the Drs office and talk to who handles the ins co. Maybe they can give you some advice. Best of luck. LaDonna

Hey there, kinda played the same game,nut i beat them at it. I called them three and four times a day, don't be scared of them. You pay for it!!!! Ask for her super, if that doesn't work go straight to your benefit rep at your hubby's employer. They are there for you. That is their job. If they slack, get to his super, there is a big list up and the more your bother them the faster it will happen. Keep CALLING!!!! I was all the was up to the benefits coordinator for the entire country for chrysler. He was the greatest. Once he found out that i complied to all the rules that were in place, there was no way out for them!! Remember the old saying "The squeaky wheel gets the oil'!!!!
