Since Sally is recuperating (and hopefully still giggling from her drugs), I'm starting a list of GOOD things that have happened since my surgery. You can also list good things that have happened pre-surgery. Don't be shy. Surgery 3/2, Lap RNY In order of importance...to me 1. It was so hot here yesterday I couldn't take my black heavy knits one more second. Bought a couple of spring clothes AND I AM ALREADY DOWN A SIZE. Wow. 2. Doctor released me to exercise and I actually went to the gym and did 10 minutes on the bike. 3. I tried Joy's liquid refried bean soup recipe. It rocks and saved me from absolute boredom 2 weeks post op. 4. Walked all the way to the ocean and back. My neighborhood is beautiful. Who knew? 5. I'm going to the office for a couple of hours this morning and actually feel like going! 6. I went to my surgeon's office and weighted 251. By late that afternoon at my internists office, I weighed 249. (Don't anybody burst my bubble and tell me it was the scale.)

Good idea! I'm sitting here on pins and needles for Betty. 1. I feel much better than I ever imagined I would at this point. I have no pain. I'm sleeping well and eating easily. 2. I've lost 19 lbs in 17 days. I had tried to set my expectations realistically, and since I am a "lightweight" I only expected to lose 20 lbs the first month. Wow! 3. I have lost a full size also. I'm having a hard time being enthusiastic, because it was a size that I had gained since 1/1! In other words, the clothes I was squeezing into actually fit now. This should have been my starting point! 4. No more acid reflux. 5. No more stress incontinence. 6. I can cross my legs for short periods of time. 7. I can reach my shoes to tie them with much less struggle. (Still have trouble getting the bow in the middle though!) 8. I'm guessing that I will be at a size 12 or 14 by my trip to Alaska in July. WoooHooo! Joy - 19 lbs / 17 days

Ah, the world of saved clothes. May we leave it soon. Mine are waiting for me one size down -- about 1 1/2 ago I had a brief period of losing. Fortunately, I bought classics like khaki and that sort of thing. Can't wait to throw THOSE babies out after I go down the requisite two sizes. And I plan to have what I just bought (not much) altered to last at least that long. A tshirt in a new spring color? That wouldn't be a bad purchase. I loved getting out of black/navy/cranberry and it may be many long years before I can stomach (pun intended) them again. Gano
