Hi Yall, Thanks for the support and prayers. We left for the hospital about 6 a.m. and got there about 7:45 a.m. for my appointment at 8. They took me up to 5 West (which is where I will be next week after my surgery), and got me ready to go down to radiology special procedures. Have I mentioned I REALLY don't like IV's ? Anyway, all the hospital staff was great and supportive as well. My doctor is the Director of Bariatrics at PRMC, and the staff seems to love him AND his patients. I was surprised that the doc who did my procedure only ordered an hour or so of bed rest before they let me loose. Of course, I am supposed to be on bed rest now, so Mr Mo is watching me like a hawk and making sure I don't sit here too long. I am drinking my water and keeping well hydrated which Dr S said would alleviate much of the discomfort in my back from the filter. (do yall have ANY idea how BIG that sucker is ???? .. OMG .. the dr who was doing my procedure brought one out into the hall to show me before they took me in there .. it was HUGE .. or maybe it just looked it to me . lol) Anyway, I am getting sort of achey which is a sign I shouldn't be sitting here. Just wanted to let you all know that I am alive and well and doing a VERY modified happy Mo dance cause they told me no dancin' tonight!!!! Hugs, Mo doin' the ALMOST 3 days and a wake up happy Mo dance (from the bed!!!)

Hey Mo, Great to hear from you. May I ask what the filter is for? I didn't have one. Anyway, 3 days and a wake up til you're on the losing side! Sending you encouragement, and prayers. Hugs, Karen L.

Hi Karen, My doctor has an TrapEase (IVC) filter inserted/implanted in all his patients, not just patients who might be considered at risk for blood clots. I have seen a few people mention having filters in their neck, mine is actually in my back. I am a little uncomfortable now, but some of that might be in my head, since I know it is there. LOL. Thanks for the encouragement! Hugs, Mo doin' a very modified 3 days and a wake up happy Mo dance

Hey.. There are different filters but they all do the same thing and that is to protect from blood clots.. PE or DVT... The filter is inserted thru a catheter in your neck or groin and "installed" in your "vena cava" which is your "main vein" over your kidneys.. I have a "greenfield" and it looks like a collapsed hairpin but then it springs open and "hooks' into the vein so it stays in place and has like a tiny badmitton head that catches clots and keeps us safe. The Trapeze is made differently but does the same job... You shouldn't even know it's there.. although they give you a card and you need to have all of your dr's add a copy to your chart. I have also read that once you have a filter you can't have a defribulator used on you. This is what I have learned about it... Kathy PS Way to go MO!!!!!!! Almost there!!!!

Oh, Mo Fiend!! So relieved to hear it went as easily as it did. I really think it helps A LOT when the hospital staff likes your surgeon. Having worked in a hospital, I thought it then, and now, after this experience, I swear by it. My surgeon is the kind that NO ONE could dislike...real laid back, very humorous, kind, patient...just an all around great guy. He walked in when the nurses were there at one point (I think I was trying to hurl from the morphine), and they were all so perky, hugged him around the waist when he left, etc. A patient doesn't miss those things... You take it easy, my fiend. I'm glad the BOLO I put out on Mr. Mo worked. You tell him if he doesn't 'behave' correctly, I'll kick his @$$ in my own 'corporate' way and get him stuck on the docks forever. Get some rest, get ready for your final trip to Newpouch.
