I want you all to know that I had the very latest of beds in the Bariatric surgery field. It is wider, will withstand heavy body weights, and has the most unique folding positions you ever saw. only a few nurses had ever seen it and they were always amazed seeing us sitting in them. You looked like you were on a huge throne and then it could be lowered to just step off. You could use them like regular beds too, and with the constant attention my sick roomie needed, I was trying to be as quiet and helpful as I could, so I wanted to be able to climb in and out myself....and that is very very difficult with the bariatric bed.(so I used it the other way, mostly...except when the students of surgery came in and my surgeon was training them...I was a good girl and was sitting the correct way) But what a help that must be with the 400 and up patients! So I had asked a long time ago what a bariatric bed was and got a variety of answers! This is the scoop.
