There is a God :)
I was told on Monday that contrary to my belief I had to have the surgery by the end of the month, which is Wednesday, the 31st. I was devastated. I've been through the dietician, the psychologist, and the physical therapist. I thought all I needed was the preauthorization before the end of the month.
Dr. Chiang's office would not bump another person off because of my predicament. I prayed and asked God to help me. I immediately knew my prayers were answered. I prayed on Monday.
On Friday I was told that Dr. Chiang is using his personal time to fit me in. I cried. My life will never be the same. I have been obese my whole life. I am confident and relaxed in the assurance that God will help me through this surgery and the rest of my life.
Thank you Dr. Chiang

Now THAT is a great doctor! He's doing it for all the RIGHT reasons, and on 'his time' at that.
I LOVE my doc for many reasons. I was so very touched when I found out my surgery COULD have been several weeks earlier had my 'Dr. Wonderful' been 'in town': since he and his buddies graduated from Med School (many years ago), they do a "Doctors Without Borders" type of thing every spring, altho they've done it since long before "DWB" has been around. They go to Brazil to operate/give medical treatment to Brazilians who don't have the money and/or resources to get the treatment they need otherwise, and they do this all on THEIR money - no one sponsors or funds them. I happened to find this out by accident when I was in my consultation with him and a call came in for him from Brazil, and he was apologetic, but said he HAD to take the call. He was in the next room down when he took the call, and I overheard the conversation, 'bout how the 28 crates of equipment had made it through, how their visas were goofed up, but some one in Chicago was going to issue them emergency visas, etc. When he returned, I asked him 'bout it, and he was TRULY embarrassed to talk 'bout it, just tried to downplay the entire thing. Not only did I know I liked my surgeon at that point, but I admired and respected him.
Sounds like YOUR surgeon fits this role, too. I'm so happy for you - and for him, that he's of the character that he is to do this for you on HIS time. That says A LOT!!
