I am home and feeling so much better. Thanks to all the prayers and well wishers. When i got home my husband showed me the email ...I WAS LIKE OMG...."look there i'm a celebrity" ..wOO hOO... It has taken me most of the day to read them all. I never cryed so much in all my life to know there are so many wonderful people that where truely concernd about me.
Thanks SO MUCH for being there for my husband he was so worried about me. And he said it was wonderful to come on here and get so much support..Gary has been a god send.. He has done everything for me.. and yes woman right down to wiping my butt...LOL ...After 4 days and NO sleep he finally took a nap ...bless his heart...
Well I am here to tell you my experence with this surgery was no picnic..Surgery went wonderful 2 hours in a half woke up in recovery room like 20 mins later ...SCREAMING MIND YOU.... OH MY GOD I AM HURTING PLEASE JESUS PLEASE TAKE IT AWAY.... I could not for the life of me figure out why i was in so much pain.. My husband said he ask ... well if she has a morphine pump why is she in so much pain... They said my doctor does not normaly order those for his patience... that they where going to give me vicadin...
Well once taken up to the room... I still was in so much pain.. begging for help.. still got nothing.. FINALLY... after cussing the nurses out and getting very evil ....I GOT THE PUMP... That helped my pain about 50 percent because even tho i got it the dose was so low it did not really take full effect...But i was able to sleep some..But OH MY.....the GAS pains where so bad.. everytime i walked i cryed ...
I did not feel i was ready to go home on friday as far as pain control went. But I was released with Tyenol with codine and by the time we made it home i was in so much pain it was awful.... I was like WHY WHY WHY........DID I DO THIS... but pain will make you say alot of things trust me just ask my husband.... bless his heart... I ran a small fever but that soon went away.. My husband called the doctor they changed my pain meds to Vicadin that has helped alot... "And truthfully" letting that "BIG FART"............... OH WHAT A RELEIF IT IS....... alot of my pain was in my shoulders... wOw...i could not even begin to explain how much it hurt..
Today i feel much better.. I can get around a little more...and the pain has stopped alot....
But let me say this.....NOT ALL GO THROUGH WHAT I DID.... so please do not let this scare the ones who are still waiting to have this surgery.. we are all different... and YES...if i had this to do all over again.. I WOULD.... if you would have ask me that yesterday i would have told you in that (evil) voice and the face that turned around and looked at you with those evil eyes and told you...HELL NOOOOOOOOOOOOO...ARE YOU CRAZY....
Once again i would like to thank all of you for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers... for all the wonderful email i got in the hosptial...wow that just made my day.... and MY ANGEL.... WHAT CAN I SAY.... she is the best... she sent me flowers...Kim thanks so much for everything.... you are truely a sweetheart...and Nicole... thanks so much for everything your wonderful support... and always picking that phone up no matter what time of day or night it is....both of you are the greatest friends anyone could ever have....
If i could give each and everyone of WLS SUPPORTERS A BIG HUGGG... i truely would...you all well be in my hearts forever...

Misty,
I am home too. Got home today about 11:00 AM. My hubby tried calling your hubby on the cell several times but it would ring a few times then just say that the subscriber wasn't available (or something like that). I tried calling the cell number a couple of times today too and got the same thing. I just now (11:26PM) have made it upstairs to my computer and now have access to your other number but I'm not calling this late!!
Sounds like things went a little rough for you. It will get better. My surgery wasn't so bad. I was in surgery for 6 hours because of a lot of scar tissue from 2 c-sections and from a gall bladder that was full of stones but they were still able to do me lap instead of open (THANK GOD!), so I'm not feeling too terribly bad right now.
Misty -
So glad you are home and doing better. Please keep farting!
Seriously though, I know exactly what you meant by shoulder pain as I had that after my gallbladder surgery. It's from all the gas they pump into you with a lap. But you know that shoulder pain you had? That was the kind of pain I had with my fibromyalgia for YEARS. I would wake up in the middle of the night in agony and tears praying for relief. So believe me, many of us can relate. It's BAD.
And as far as that goes, I have to say with this open rny that I had, I cannot begin to relate to you how much of a night and day situation it was. Although I was split from stem to stern I had virtually no pain, and I think it's because there was no gas pumped into me. What a huge difference it made for me. So maybe this was the best thing for me and I didn't know it until after it was all said and done.
BTW - if you ever have to have lap surgery again, or anyone else reading, DEMEROL helps relieve that pain in the shoulders. It is brilliantly fantastic and I specifically ask for it any time I have surgery now. Just a little FYI for what it's worth...
Dina

I AGREE WITH YOU DINA, DEMOROL IS THE BEST DRUG... I PREFERED IT IN THE HOSPITAL, ME AND MR MORPHINE WERE JUST DUKE'N IT OUT EVERYDAY...FINALLY AFTER I SPILLED MY GUTS AND TOLD ALL MY
THEY SAID OK LETS GET HER OFF OF IT! WE KNOW EVERYTHING NOW!
YOU HAD TO BE THERE!!!! I WASN'T!
HOPE ALL IS WELL WITH YOU SWEETY!

A riddle a day will keep the Marchers pounds AWAY!

If you can persuade your doctor to change his general orders based on your experience, you will help every patient of his to come. If he's a jerk about it, your best revenge is to spread the news about your experience far and wide. The low amount of pain meds he ordered for you is reprehensible and against the thinking of many doctors now. Pain slows down your recovery. I'm sorry to hear what you went through and compliment both you and your husband on your fighting spirit, without which it would have been a lot worse.
