I'm in the process of moving from puree to soft. Here is a sample day for me: Breakfast: one egg, 2 tbl grits, 1 tbl cheese Lunch: 1 cup of tomato soup, 2 saltine crackers in the soup Dinner: 2 tblsp baked potato with 2 tbl sp cottage cheese Snacks: Homemade popsicles 3/4 water 1/4 white grape juice Protein drink I KNOW I'm lacking in protein. I just started protein drinks. I'm looking forward to adding fish and chicken to my diet. Robin March 2, open RNY 247/222/130

I am 12 days out and feel GREAT! My Doc puts us on protiens from day one! Cottage cheese, yogart, pureed meats, I can not due eggs for some reason. Yesterday, i mashed a can of pears in natural juice which did not agree with me. I have eaten very sm. jullien type slivers of ham, turkey and cheese. Mostly soups, yogurt, pureed steak mixed with a sm piece of potato and peas was super yummy.

Hi: This is what I had yesterday. I was 15 days post op lap RNY. First: water w/pills - vitamins, actigall, zinc - I don't crush them. Breakfast - 1 1/2 soft boiled eggs. Lunch - Atkins protein bar (19 pro. grams) - I am afraid of not getting enough protein and I cannot abide the liquid stuff. Dinner - went out boating w/friends who think that dh and I are dieting so they had a whole veggie tray prepared for us. I ate raw cauliflower and broccoli w/fat free dip. I also had about 1/3 C of imitation crab meat. Not sure if the raw veggies was OK to eat, but aside from a little gas I had no problem with them. Snack - 2 no sugar added fudgsicles. I drink diet soda and water during the day. Sometimes I have tomato juice too. At present I am not doing any exercises. I plan to start in a week or two. Thanks for sharing your diet. Protein shakes, broth, V-8 juice, sugar free jello, they tell is it is to accelerate weight loss and to help us mentally get ready to change our eating habits. I don't think I have EVER craved a salad like I have been.

Wow......I had my surgery March 17th and I'm watered out. I'm reading your diet and feel maybe I'm not eating enough? Maybe that's why I'm so tired. I guess I need to change my diet up a bit cause I'm getting bored. You are the third person who has mentioned that they drink diet soda after the surgery. One girl is actually drinks Mountain Dew.....with no problem. Have you had anything fried? Thanks, Christina -20 lbs.

Well, breakfast could be: +4 oz cream of wheat w/slice banana; +1 egg w/ half piece of toast w/spray butter and 1 slice of veggie bacon. Generally I start eating around lunch because I'm a night person. I usually have something lunch like for my first meal. I have had: +Chicken noodle soup (Progresso) w/ 1/2 slice of toast; +3 oz roasted chicken breast and 1 oz of cottage cheese; Underwood +Chicken spread on Wheat Thins; +Half sandwich w/low carb bread, roasted chicken and 1/2 slice of cheese w/mustard; +Veggie sausage (like polish) or Hebrew National hot dog w/mustard +SF/FF yogurt (100 calories per 8 oz container) For dinner, I can eat what I have for lunch a lot of times, but have a few other things I might have for dinner: +Michelina's or Budget Gourmet low fat dinners. I get the highest in protein I can find and eat the protein first and the potatoes second. I can eat about 2/3rds of one. +DH wanted pizza badly last night. I finally relented and ordered a thin crust (wow - the Dominos one is actually cracker thin!) w/roasted chicken, green peppers and onions. It was good and once I put it in perspective of putting those toppings on regular crackers, I realized it was not much different than having that sort of thing. Not something I'd eat all the time, but a good alterntive when he's having a grease lovers pizza. They cut them in little squares and I had 3 of those squares. +Hamburger helper. DH made some strganoff kind with ground turkey. It was really good! Might have SF applesauce with any of these things. +Cottage cheese and strawberries. Had this while my mom was here. It was a great alternative to the stinkin' cheesecake DH brought home! +Broccoli w/chicken. Again, DH wanted to eat out, so I ordered the BC. It was really really good and the broccoli was very tender. I ate more than I thought I should be able to, but then I realized that the broccoli florets are splayed out and make a large looking mound. Had it all been pureed it would have been half a cup, I'm sure, but because it was whole, it looked like more. It was quite satisfying. So far most of what I've had has gone down good. I don't snack except yesterday I was hungry between meals so I had 2 dill pickles. Took awhile to eat them, but they were luscious. Then this morning I got on the scale and realized all that salt made me retain water and I was up a pound again! ::Grrrrr!:: Dina
