What Protein drink are you using? Anything you would recommend? I bought several different brands and have no real recommendations yet. Most of the can drinks are too sweet for me. The powder drinks have been yucky. When I went to the health store the lady said they were out of the most popular brands. So I have to go back. Robin March 2, 2004 Open RNY 247/222/130

I am having problems with the taste of the protein drinks. so far Atkin's Low Carb Solutions has been the only one I can drink. The chocolate flavor has been ok. I even froze some and had it that way.

I can't drink any of the protein drinks -I find the taste horrible. I've tried blending it with all kinds of things and nothing works. My doc doesn't want us to use protein drinks after the first 2 weeks but I have been afraid of not getting enough protein and then having my hair fall out. I have spent a total of $62.00 and it has all been $$$ thrown away on these drinks. Luckily I found an Atkins protein bar which is acceptable, not great but acceptable and it has 19grams of protein. So from now on I'll have a pro. bar for 1 meal. Louise lap RNY 3/18/04 231/209/143

2 sources of protein drinks I like. If you want something like milk or chocolate milk, use the Carb Countdown milks in the milk section of your grocery store. It is cheaper than protein drinks, and per 11 oz (the size of the Atkins and EAS shakes) there are 16.5 grams of protein. Atkins shakes have 20 grams and the EAS shakes are 15 grams of protein. This Carb Countdown tastes just like milk. It's very yummy and a lot easier to take than any of the protein drinks. Here is what it looks like: http://www.hphood.com/products/products.detail.asp?id=477 The other thing I like is Protidiet tropical punch. It's gelatin based and you mix the liquid packet with 5 oz of very cold water. It's refreshing and tastes yummy - very much like drinking Jello. They are 15 grams of protein per serving. This is the only place I've found it online: http://store.yahoo.com/cntr4weightloss/tropfruitfla.html. I did a Froogle search and found a lot of Protidiet products I'd like to try as well....some look really good! Dina

Atkins is great... For a change... try www.unjury.com You can mix the chocolate with 2 pks of Swiss Miss No Sugar Added Xtra Calcium Hot Chocolate for a whooping 24 grams of protein that is sooo good ! It is lighter and also helps your purse because you are not buying so many of the pre-mixed. They also have recipes on the website for making a 20gram cup of jello. It really is good... I have tried the unflavored and added it to my soup or broth and it does not change the texture or flavor... Good Luck- VAL

I had a huge aversin to all the vanilla, choclate flavored protein drinks. I went almost 2 weeks with less than 10 grms of protein a day and felt horrible. Then I heard about Isopure, it comes in fruit punch, grape, apple, orange flavors. Has no sugar or carbs & 40 grams of protein per 20 oz bottle. I have had 1 of those a day for the last 9 days and feel alot better. Renee March,15/2004 open RNY 264/237/150

Robin, I use Shaklee (it's a natuaral vitimin company) and they have some really good protein drinks. They are soy based (very good for us women). There are three kinds -- chocolate (my daughter drinks this as chocoalte milk and loves it), vanilla, and then there's one that is nonflavored and you can sprinkle it on your food, add it to soups, or any other recipe and enhance the protein in it. If you're interested contact me and I'll be glad to get you set up and let you know where you can get it. Whitney
