wound infection??? ick!

I'm 3 weeks out and I'm still having trouble with one of my surgical sites. I had lap rny 3/23 and got an infection. The rest of the incisions have healed very well. It's not red like it was, or swollen but geezzzz I wi**** would heal up!!!! I had one round of anitbiotics since I got out of the hospital and the Doc says it's "healing nicely". Couldn't prove it by me!!! It still drains just as bad but he said it had to heal from the inside out. Anyone else have this problem? Maybe I'm just too impatient! Thanks!

Wow we almost have the same surgery date My date was on 3/24... As far as the wound infection I haven't had that problem all of them have healed very well i've been putting ****oa lotion all over my belly and have not had any problems..... I am 4 weeks out and i still have a site tha is draining, isn't that just so great? LOL And today i was at a friend's house showing her and a string came out of that site. I already called the doc. I was told some of that stuff oozzing out is like liquid fat and its ok. Mine has taken a greenish color and thats not so ok, but i have to call the doc in the morning and they are getting me in to check it out. Before that string came out, i had a feeling of something crawling under my skin, and that must be what it was. I have learned if it is draining alot, use a maxi pad on it. They absorb great!! and they are cheaper then the big dressings. Good luck!!

Oh big bummer! I thankfully didn't have to deal with that, but I just wanted to come in and say "Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!" Dina

I had various areas hat drained. They started in the hospital and it freakedme out. Doc just looked at it and stuck a gauze pad over it, told me to keep it clean and dry. He told me that it was just the very top layers and to squeeze he liquid out (like a zit) and that it was normal. I now have two areas like this. One about the size of a large pea at the very top of my incision and one about an inch long at the very bottom where I am heaviest. The scab got real thick at the bottom so it seems to be healing slower there but most of the drainage has stopped, just little spots here and there. Rest assured, You too are "NORMAL"! Bonnie I am 4 1/2 weeks out and still having problems with one of my lap sites. It is right on the waist line where my pant**** so it is constantly irritated. I tried covering it up with a bandaid but it didn't get enough air and got infected. It seems like it is finally starting to heal. My doctor told me to put Neosporin or Bacitracin on it a couple of times a day. Seems to be working. Good luck! Aristea

Update on the spot at the top of my incision.... I took a shower and the dern scab popped off. Now I have a HOLE! Nothing to worry about but disconcerting to see! I covered it with a band-aid because I'm going to be leaving home shortly for my first post op appointment. Funny though, the itching in that spot seems to have stopped competely, don't look a gift horse in the mouth.... he might sneeze on you! Gayle Queen of Yarn Balls 320/297/175
