How long did you get off of work
I have a quick question I would like to know how much time everyone got off of work? My Dr. is sending me back after only 4weeks I'm still on the liquid and soft liquids... and besides feeling dizzy, and my flu like synthoms that I was talking about yesturday...I don't feel that I"m ready... I've called the officee and they are telling me I"m ok...What's the deal how long were you off from the day of your surgery before going back to work..Thanks
I had the open procedure and I got 2 months off work. I'm like you - still feeling tired and weak. I do a desk job but the stress could put me over the top. I wondered if I could hack part time, but I'm still not sure. If I didn't eat anything maybe. DH is very adament I don't go back early though. He's probably right - if I have energy problems now, I guess I should continue trying to heal up and get a good routine going before I attempt work. I do know that I can't sit upright for very long periods of time without putting strain and pressure on my incision, so that could pose a problem also. Thankfully at home I have a laptop so I'm always in a reclining position.

I had open RNY and went back to work part time after two weeks. The first week I worked between 4 and 5 hours / day. This week I will work 6 to 7 hours and 8 IF I can.
I had built up on protein before my surgery to help with healing and post surgery I am getting a minimum of 100 grams of protein daily and at least my 64 oz of fluids. I really don't have an 'energy' problem, but after 5 or 6 hours I do get 'tired' and need to take a quick power nap.
Good luck !

Well, a handful of days I have missed the 2nd shake, so those are only 60 gram days. My doctor is adamant about the supplemental protein tho. Even once we are eating 3 real meals a day, he wants us getting 80 grams of supplemental protein. (that is a permanent thing, not just for the recovery period).

I had the open RNY and I am scheduled off for 6 weeks. I do not think at the moment I could go back to work today. I have had problems with Blood Pressure and now accepting my food and have not been able to walk daily.
I think each person is different. but I believe you should tell all to the doctor before he relases you. mY doctor said he would only agree to what was medically necessary time off.
I had a lap rny and am back to work full-time 2 weeks post-op -- I have a desk job, so now lifting or other strenuous work required.
If you feel you're not ready to go back to work, you need to discuss it with your surgeon. It would be terrible to go back to work when you're feeling so lousy.
