Has anyone had this happen to them? I ate some beef jerky yesterday around 3pm. At 6pm I had 2 scrambled eggs. The trouble started shortly after that. I wasn't dumping or throwing up but had a really uncomfortable feeling in my stomach all night. I had trouble sleeping too. I woke up this morning and started drinking my water and ended up throwing up in every trash can in the house! The problem is the eggs were still in my stomach undigested. Also there was still some beef jerky there. Could it have clogged up my stoma so that no food could travel into the intestine? That's the only thing I can think of to make this happen. Sorry about the grossness! Aristea

Sounds like that may have been the case. Scary, huh? Are you able to drink now? I wouldn't go beyone clear fluids until you're sure. Maybe putting in a call to your surgeon may be a wise move. Well that and avoiding Jerky! Gayle Queen of Yarn Balls 320/295/175

Thanks. I am sitting at my desk at work and just threw away the rest of the jerky! LOL. Aristea

Thanks for replying. I am doing fine now. I was blocked until about 6 that night and then stopped throwing up so I avoided at trip to the emergency room to get hydrated. My surgeon ended up calling back to check on me that night and next day. Definitely no jerky for me anymore!

If you have a hankerin' for jerky there's this stuff called (appropriately enough) Jerky Stuff. It's usually sold in convience stores and comes in a plastic 'can' like chewing tobacco. The can is brown and the label is yellow. It's like jerky dust. I've been craving that but still am not brave enough to try it. I think I like it so much because of the salt. I have found to satisfy that "I need salty" urge I can take a sip of the 'juice' in the jar of green olives. Stops that urge in it's tracks! Gayle Queen of Yarn Balls 320/295/175

You know its funny it wasn't really the salt (I do like olive juice!) but I think the actual texture of chewing or gnawing really. guess I am just not ready for the "real stuff" yet. lol. Aristea

WOW! 2 scrambled eggs at one time? I can only eat 1 oz at a time which is approx 1/2 egg. I can eat anything I want I just have to eat small quantities. 2 eggs! That would make me puke!! I know we are all different. Seriously now, it sounds like the eggs probably blocked your stoma. I have had this happen to me a few times. My surgeon says it is not to be confused with "dumping" and it should happen a lot less frequently as time progresses. RNY - 03/01/04 (285)258/219/130

It looks like something blocked it but I am fine now. Don't want to go through that again especially at work! Thanks. Aristea
