Is this normal?

Hi - I am new to the March message board. I posted this on the main message board, but I thought I would try here, too - to see if you all had any advice. Thanks! I am almost 6 weeks out and I just need to run this by some other people who have been there. Last night I got home late and was very hungry (big mistake, I know). I had about 1/2 of a scrambled egg left with some deli ham chopped into it, so I heated it up and ate about 1/2 of it, when I felt suddenly extremely full. I realized that although I was chewing like mad, I was eating way too fast. I spit out what I had in my mouth and waited for the full feeling to pass. Over the next half hour, I felt intensely full and had two 10-15 second bouts of pain that went straight through to my back. Also had some belching, but no vomiting. I almost wished I would vomit, I felt so full. What an idiot I am!! After the fullness passed, I was able to take in liquids without problem and I had a protein shake this morning without problem, although I do get some pain now and then under my ribcage (I don't have a gallbladder, either). Is this normal - I know I screwed up and I learned my lesson, but could I have done any real damage? I appreciate anything you would be willing to share with me. It is great to have all of you to "talk" to about this stuff.

Dee, It's definitely normal. I do this about 3 times a week. You'd think I'd learn my lesson! Maybe one day... No, I don't think you did any damage. It's just your body's way of protesting what you've done to it. Just remember to chew, chew, chew and small bites. That should take care of the problem. One way that I've learned to slow down, is to use chopsticks. I'm not very proficient on them, so it takes me a while to pick anything up. Just an idea... -Naomi 380/325/150
