I just got the hospital bill for my 2 surgeries (lap rny and emergency exploratory), five days in the hospital, including one in ICU. Thank GOD for good insurance. I don't kow how people do it!

Mine was $35,000 for 2 days, and that didn't include the anesthesiologist or my surgeon! And the best part is my part = $0!!!! And, since my hospital is in network, they were only paid $3,400! I agree - Thank God for good insurance!! I changed mine starting in Jan just for this surgery. My other one wouldn't have paid as well at all! mgm

Wow the east coast must be high! I live in Chicagoland suburbs which isn't too shabby, but my hospital bill was only $16,000 for 2 days...not including doctors, anesthesiologists or anything. My part was $73.

I can hardly wait 'til my bills start rollin' in. I have to pay 10%. Just ONE of my blood panels cost $689...and I have to pay the first one in full 'cuz my deductible hadn't been met yet. Sux. Yepper, I'm gonna be one broke gal for quite awhile...but I don't care. My PCP called yesterday and my triglycerides, which started at 733 last August, are already down to 179 at 5.5 weeks out...this surgery has literally saved my life! So ya have to wonder, what IS the price of your life? Whatever the cost, it's gonna be INEXPENSIVE to me. I had my WLS for different reasons than most, and as my PCP said yesterday "Your surgery has already been a total success!! And as you lose more weight, IF you lose more weight, it'll be even better for you!" You have NO idea what those words meant to me!! Having come THIS |______| close to a stroke due to my cholesterols/triglycerides, I don't care if I never lose another ounce: my 'goals' have already been attained. What a feeling!!! Mine was around that as well (64k). I am responsible for 40% or up to 7500.00. Unless the insurance companies deny somethings then we will appeal. I did have my gallbladder out so I am assuming that is why it was so high. But you are correct, it is worth it. What happens if you can't pay it, undo your stomach???

There is a reason I went to work for Aetna - and believe me, it AINT for the pay. I went because this surgery cost me -0- out of pocket... that makes up for the crappy salary! -Sherrie
