I noticed everyone has changed their names in an attempt to avoid being "GOOGLED" While this is a good idea .. it's too late... Everything is already there and your new alias doesn't conceal your identity... For Instance.. Go to Google and put in your real name... it will bring you up and when you click it ... It brings you to your alias on OH... It's all linked it doesn't matter if you change your name now.. But if you're just starting on here and pick an alias then it won't matter. I have seen this concern on the main board.. it's part of life on the internet....

Actually, it will matter on down the line as the caches are refreshed. When they are refreshed, it will show your new name just as it does if you go back and look at your old posts now. I couldn't care less that I can be found on the internet, but some people know about OH and might stumble in here looking for us by name. I have been open about my surgery, but I don't necessarily want to splay my profile out there for everyone to see...handed to them on a silver platter. I know they will be seen by some, but why make it easy? Just like my angelette (who went in Feb). She didn't hide anything, but a person with some emotional problems she knows looked her up and when she was in the hospital, her parents and other family members got an anonymous letter from her telling them what she was doing. She had already shared this info with her family, but the fact that this person tried to cause problems in my friend's life is exactly why some people prefer to change their names. Dina

I am not worried about changing my name. If someone wants to find me they will no matter what I change it to! RNY - 03/01/04 (285)258/219/130

I cleared the cache on my PC, and it didn't make any difference. Anywhoo, after thinking about what's been said in this post, I put my profile up not only for me to write in every now and then, but also for folks to read. So... I've changed my name back to my God-given name. Have a wonderful Saturday, all! Hugs, -Marcie

You bring a good point but I didn't change my name to keep from being found. I have always been the Irish Lassie, and on the Texas Board I am Irish Angel Diva (there is a diva and studly list) but I am also a firefighter's flame. My husband is a firefighter. I guess I just like change and so every now and then I will change it just to have something different to look at. Shannon aka The Irish Lassie aka Irish Angel Diva aka Firefighter's Flame
