Difficult to eat...
Nothing tastes good. I haven't found a good source of protein that tastes good besides nuts and sunflower seeds. I used to love cottage cheese, tuna, chicken, shrimp and cheese prior to WLS, but now everything tastes different. Even water tastes bad. Will food ever taste good again?? Is this normal??
As always, thanks for all your support!!

Sierra, I am in the same spot as you for the exception that cheese TASTE good to me but it does not agree with me at all. Tuna taste horrible now as does chicken (most kinds) I really have no advise because I am stuck in the same situation. I have noticed it has become a little better though. When was your surgery date?
Maybe you can try different recipes. I used to love fried chicken and baked chicken; now the only chicken I like is what my mother n law makes called Hawaiian Chicken with pineapples. Maybe you can try different things. Get an example of what others are eating. Maybe fish? That is a great source of protien. I think when they did this surgery they took our taste buds as well

Sierra,
It is sort of funny that you posted this topic. We went to a shrimp feast today ( I LOVE shrimp) and I was complaining to my husband that nothing tastes right to me. I understand that I can't eat the quantities that I did before, but I wish that things would at least taste good to me if I am going to be full after 4 or 5 bites. LOL
At least cottage cheese tastes OK, and yogurt, but I am going to get tired of them. As soon as I can get to the store, I am going to stock up on my salad stuff (salads for lunch were my pre surgery staple) and hope that I can still enjoy them, maybe with some mesquite grilled chicken breast.

I have found in the last week that I have no desire to eat. I make myself eat lunch and dinner. I also have my protein shake each day. Food use to be my everything. It is so weird now not wanting to eat. My family is worried but I tell them I am taking my protein, vitamins, and water daily. What to do???

P.S. I finally have a face to share with everyone.
Hi Sierra,
When I was around your time out I felt the same way you did. Nothing tasted good. Honestly I just recently have started to like the tastes of some foods again. Then there are some I just dont care for anymore. Like french fries taste sooo weird to me now. (thank goodness!) and meat. Im ok with chicken but I think now more than ever its going to be about seasoning since our bites are so small we need that good flavor or else its just bland mush you know
In fact I went out and bought an herb&spice book just for that.
It is weird how those foods we just loved before are turning out to taste so different. I think its about finding a food that tastes almost just as good as when you first put it in your mouth as when you are done chewing it. If that makes any sense. lol!

This is really funny that I saw this post just now. I went to Taco Bell to get pintos and cheese that I keep hearing many Marchers comment on. Well, I decided to try a taco too. Not that I needed it, or even thought I could fit it. I'm not even allowed carbs yet, but I wanted it so I figured one bite wouldn't hurt too bad. Well, I took that bite and - ugh - I remember the taco supreme being soooo good. Not anymore. The taste just wasn't there for me. Guess it's a good thing. Ate the pintos and cheese, which is something I never liked before, but now I do - go figure!!
