Did anybody need a blood transfusion during or after the surgery?

I had complications and I needed 2 units of blood.

Sharon, I had a GI bleed two days after surgery and I needed 3 units of blood. I had an allergic reaction to the transfusion and developed a severe pulmonary edema. It was pretty scary, but I recovered quickly. Good luck! Lee M. 266/228/137

I vomited alot of blood in the hospital and needed two units also...I am wondering if that is my weakness problem now 4 weeks out?!!!

I also had 2 units of blood after bleeding internally. Are you worried you are going to develop a problem because you had the transfusion? If you are I wouldn't be. I am a nurse and I know the blood supply these days is extremely safe.

I had surgery 4 weeks ago, I needed 4 pints of blood, my doctor did not know where I was bleeding from or to, but thought it had something to do with my gallbladder being removed at the same time. I recovered quickly and spent and extra 2 days in the hospital. Susan
