My surgery was 3/4/04 and started out at 380. As of last week (I think) or the week before, I was down to 318. Only 32 pounds to the century club! -Naomi

Day of surgery, 3/8, I weighed in at 332. Last weight was 294, a loss of 38 lbs. I don't feel or see much of a change. I am able to eat just about anything and have not tried "illegal" foods, with sugar, or refined carbs. I think I would be ok if I did, which scares me. Have not had any problems with nausea or vomitting. I have never had that "full" feeling and feel like I could eat normally, as much as I wanted to, if I choose to do so. Is this the case with anyone else? I'm really afraid that this "tool" is much less of one for me, for some reason. The only reason I've lost so far is because I am controlling what and how much I eat. But how long will that last, just like all the other times? Maureen

My surgery was 3/9/04 and started out at 264. As of today I am weighing in at 237 so 27lb lost so far with hardly even trying!! I have not been able to excercise as I have been on the road for most of this month. And my nutritionist does not have a specific amount of protine that I am to take in. Just protine first. Leslie

Hello everyone I had my open roux-en-y on March 22nd and weighed 379 pounds, I lost 9 pounds a week before surgery just by drinking protien shakes 3 x a day, and eating only veggies... To my surprise I lost 30 pounds in the first 14 days after my wls. I am about 5 weeks out now and weighed myself on the pediatricians scale during a visit for my 3 yr old yesterday and I weighed in at 322, This has been the first time in 12 years that I could get weighed on an office scale, I was so happy!!! I am very happy with my the weight loss so far, I am also walking 3 miles a day, some days I skip a day (due to pain in my ankles) I just started using my Tony Little Gazelle elite now, You need alot of upper body strenghth for this and untill yesterday I just didnt have it! I can only use this machine for 5 minutes but I am working on it, I go back to the doc on May 4th, and cant wait to see what his scale says... I am drinking 1 protien shake a day adding unjury tasteless powder to it to up the protien in it and add 3/4 of a banana, and some freash strarberries also, it is the only way I can get them down, water i drink all day long... Hope everyone is feeling well! I also started myself on veggies cooked very well..then blenderized in the processor, this is how I have my tuna and also my egg salad...

What a good idea. Sounds like you are doing great. I left my home in Fl for surgery in NY. When I left I weighed 228, I now weigh 203. I am down from a size 20 to size 18. I hope to weigh 145 and wear a size 12 by Christmas. I have toally recovered from surgery. I can do everything I did before. Food goes down easily and nothing seems to bother me. I just enjoy being satisfied with much smaller portions. I am also afraid of dumping so I have not had any sweets except for a bite of birthday cake. Thanks for asking and it's great to read about the progree of all the Marchers. Louise -25
