Maureen, Hi there! Sounds like your pouch isn't 2 oz like he says OR Like you mentioned it may be an enlarged stoma. I read about enlarged stomas and what happens is that the food slips right past your pouch and into your intestines which holds more food. Its a scary thought but apparently people are still loosing weight even though there is that issue. Definitely discuss this with your personal doctor, I wouldn't go just by what others say in here you definitely need answers from your surgeon so he can maybe do some tests for you to ease your mind. I personally am just about where you are. I can tolearate everything. (except cottage cheese) I mean I can eat it but my belly hurts a little. Sugar seems to be no problem. I had like 4-5 normal sips of my sons milkshake hoping to help move things inside and I felt nothing. Except sheer pleasure of the yummy taste!!! I notice I can eat about 4 oz If I eat too slow it seems like it just drains quicker and there is suddenly more I can eat. Maybe my stoma is a bit larger as well I dont know. So I try to eat fairly quickly but not so quickly that I will Huck. Like I did yesterday at dinner!!! Also I share your feeling of hunger and the feeling that I am gonig to fail this surgery due to "old feelings" Especially last night I felt like I was going to go nuts because I was so darn hungry. After i hucked out my dinner I had cereal a little while later and after the cereal I still felt hungry. I refused to eat those darn tortilla chips (WHICH by the way, NEVER gives me a full feeling I think they magically turn to water in the pouch and drain right out!!! ) Some foods I can eat and eat and eat. Others like chicken and stuff of real substance I feel the fullness. So maybe that could work for you the thicker stuff with more substance? I am so sorry you are having this trouble. I sure hope everything works out for you. Maybe its just the whole transition and fear of it not working. I know the fear trips me up something terrible. Definitely check with your surgeon and ask him to run a "stoma test" on you so that you can rest easy. Best Wishes! We are here for ya!!! Elizabeth M -44 and havent weighed in like 4 days now!!! (trying to break myself of that TERRIBLE habit that drives us nuts!)
