Back from Bogota - Round # 2
Hello everyone!
I just got back from Bogota after some post-op testing and a little R&R with my beautiful wife Laura. We had an endoscopy the second day I was there to see if the leak in my pouch had healed. It had and my g-tube was removed! ( Praise God ) But whilst they were poking and proding in my inards with that nasty little camera they found that the hole to my intestines from the pouch was too small. To avoid this being a problem in the future, another endoscopy was done that evening and a stint was put in that place to keep the hole from ever getting too small. Not only does that cure that problem but now I get to have fun at airports because the stint has some stainless steel on it and will set off a metal detector in a New York minute. The doctors had written up a paper explaining the metal stint for me to carry to the security check points so they wouldn't freak out on me. They checked my abscess and said everything was fine. They put me on a very strong series of antibiotics different from what they initially had me on to hopefully dry up this abscess. So now here I am eating like all of you! I feel good but am still a little weak and feverish at times from the abscess. As soon as I get that thing cleared up I will be good to go. It sure is nice to take in food by my mouth instead of by the g-tube. I am now down 60 pounds with a BMI of 33.5. Just wanted to let you all know I'm here and kickin'. Happy Mothers Day to all of you wonderful mothers out there in Marcher land. I will be spending Mothers Day with the beautiful mother of my kids and admiring photos of the Queen in awe as usual. I love you all.
