Well, I had surgery on 3/29/04. I have lost 40 lbs so far. I'm glad about this but also a little depressed about it because since I have 200 lbs to lose I thought I would have lost more in 6 weeks than 40 lbs. I saw a thing on TV last night about a woman who had surgery 4 months ago and has lost 80 lbs already and she only weight 256 or something like that. I weighed 330. I feel like I should have lost more. Does anyone have any similar experiences with their weight loss? Anyway, I do feel great. I have no more pain. I can sleep any which way and that's great. I joined Curves so that I can help speed the weight loss. I'm also back at work now. I wish everyone well.

Hi Rosemary -- I started out this process at 387 -- and I had my surgery on 3/8/04. To date I've lost 46 pounds. I, too, thought it might come off faster since I had about 230 pounds to lose...but its not -- however I refuse to stress about it! Slow is better than none - and/or gaining. I feel great! I struggle with very few foods. I haven't dumped on anything, but I definately have control over what/when and how much I eat. It will work -- have faith! Lissa

Hi Rosemary, Yep I feel the same way. I was 334 and feel like the weight should be flyign off but its not. We eat so much less and so much healthier yet get stuck on these stubborn plateaus. My plateau is going on 3 weeks now! Its frustrating but just know that it will happen and that those pounds will never be re-gained!!! You are doing great! Best Wishes! Elizabeth M -44lbs

Rosemary, I hear what you are saying. I had surgery 3/8/04 and a couple weeks ago the scale was doing nothing, so I decided to stay off of it. It drives me crazy to see no loss day after day... I got on this weekend and I have lost 51 lbs total in two months. I'm 287 now and I was 338 before surgery. I'd like it to be faster, but I"m cool with what my body is doing. Something that helps me (besides ignoring the scale), is this; at last months support group meeting, one of the gals was complaining about a slow weight loss and the dietician told her that the next time she was at the grocery store she should pick up a bag of dog food and carry it around a little. Then you would really see what losing 40 pounds means!!! Hang in there. Melissa

I had surgery March 9 and I'm in the same boat. I have lost 45lbs but haven't lost anything in 14 days. I have my monthly but thought I would have lost at least 2lbs. I feel the same way I thought it would have been more by now. I seem that dateline special last night and it makes me disappointed. And she looked so much thinner because she didn't have that much to lose. I started at 331 and you can see a difference but I want more. Just greedy I guess. HAHA Stacey -45 and waiting for more

I can totally relate, I was getting discouraged with the scale not moving, but then I realized all my clothes are getting loser and I feel better. ....so I decided to not weight myself for 2 weeks and see what happens, I was driving myself nuts!!! Its only been 2 days but I find I am not obsessing so much, I may make it a whole month....that would be torture LOL!! Good luck and don't worry it will move!! Trish

I had my surgery 10 weeks ago and have lost 37 lbs. It is slow now, but I have not exercised like I had planned. I am making a concentrated effort this week to increase protein and fluids and decrease carbs. Last week was a nutritional disaster! I gave advance notice at work today that they are not getting more than 50 hours out of me this week. Surprisingly, they took that pretty well. That should help with eating like a normal post op person! Last week I ate all night to make up for not getting any sleep. Oh well, if I had not had surgery, I would have GAINED 5 lbs. I actually lost 2 lbs during the week. It seem like at the point where I am getting discouraged, someone comments about my weight loss, and I know it is worth it and it is working. I guess this is a lesson in patience for all of us! Joy -37 lbs

I was 350 on surgery day. I have lost 58lbs so far.So I think you are ahead of me. Dont worry about it. I know the feeling though. I am soo much smaller than I was but not where I want to be. It will come to all of us in due time. Just keep doing what you are supposed to do and hang in there. Thats all we can do. Congrats on your loss. LaDonna -58lbs
