I JUST HAVE TO SHARE

Dear Friends, I have some exciting news to share with you. I have been out of work for nearly 4 years, staying at home with our 2 children. The real reason I left my last position is simply that I was utterly exhausted from dragging this body around all the time. Most difficult for me was trying to "pretend" I was "normal" and not affected by my weight, also pretending that other people didn't notice or didn't care. It was the only way I could cope with my debilitating morbid obesity. Well, I decided it was time to test the waters and begin searching for work. I had 2 interviews this past week, both of which were grueling. I dressed appropriately and felt comfortable in all conversations, mostly because I was not purple in the fact for having taken a few steps, nor was I totally winded and out of breath. I didn't feel like a stuffed sausage on the hot seat. 43 lbs. gone is, after all, 43 lbs. gone (63 if I count the 20 I lost pre-surgery). The really exciting news is I was offered BOTH positions! I am happy to report that I have found an exciting job that suits me very well. I am the new Associate Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations at a private, 4 year liberal arts college, and I will be working with a great group of people. I just can't believe it! Here I am, still very large, getting up in years (48 in June), and out of work for nearly 4 years and they hired ME! I am really excited and wanted to share my good news with you. The weight is coming off -- for all of us -- and it seems like it's slow going, more than we expected, but look how our lives are changing every day. Oh, here's an added bonus. I get full use of the college's athletic facilities, including Olympic size indoor pool, regulation size track and field, and all the weight lifting equipment you can imagine -- for nada, zip, free of charge! I am a happy and excited girl tonight. Thanks for listening. Listen, we are all on a path, all heading in the same direction, together. All we have to keep doing is put one foot in front of the other...and take all the time you need to do it. Just keep walking. All the best and be well, Maureen

Maureen, What GREAT news. That must have really done it for you to get offered BOTH jobs! Sounds like a great position. WHat is your backround? My hubby works in Higher Ed as well, as the Director of Academic and Student Services. Its a big job, but a small school, so he doens't have an assistant! This position sounds great. And in addition to the facilities, you now will have another income to buy a new wardrobe!! I should just go read your profile again, I bet its in there!! Congrats again, from one March 8th'er' to another! Kris
