How often are you eating?
I try to eat every few hours but it is such a problem. I am NEVER very hungry and when I am hungry I just don't WANT to eat. I find eating very unenjoyable and very frustrating. I still throw up once in a while but mostly I just don't feel like eating. It is great but in the same way I know I have to eat something. Nothing tastes good either. I wish I could just get an IV in once a day and get what I need from there. Is this normal?

Sam,
I was having the very same problems with eating not being enjoyable. I accept that I can't eat the way I used to eat, but I was getting very depressed that I didn't like what I COULD eat. I ended up calling and talking to my doctor's nurse (who has also had the surgery), and she said that all of this was perfectly normal. Since then I have made an effort to try to eat the things I want to eat. Actually, I have found that the spicier the better. I can actually taste that stuff. But, I do also stick with the stuff that I know I like and that hasn't let me down (for example, at lunch time I almost always have 1/2 cup of cottage cheese with a 4 oz can of diced peaches or pears .. and I take yogurt with me to work to have for a mid morning snack).
I hope it gets better for you!
Hugs,
Mo
Last night at work I wanted to eat every couple of hours, but I was able to resist that urge. It stemmed from me not being able to eat my apple before my lunch (essentially my breakfast) because it was nasty. So I wanted to eat just a couple hours after lunch. I did go buy another apple and had it before I went home sometime.
I know there are days I can go for 8 hours between meals with no problem and some days I want to eat all day long. I Just try to resist that as much as possible so I don't get into the habit of snacking, but on a rare occasion (once every 2 weeks or so) I will allow myself a day of not eating by the clock. I figure my body is telling me it needs more something, so once in awhile I give in a little...but just a little.

Good question! hmmm.... Probably every few hours. I try to keep to my schedule and NOT skip my snack times (per nutritionists demands) lol! I was reamed a new one by her for skipping my snack a few times!!! Its important to get it in. I eat Breakfast then a couple hours have my snack. Whether it be the rest of my breakfast or a protein bar or fruit or protein drink or something good for you. Then Lunch...couple hours then snack again (usually rest of my lunch)...dinner...then snack (protein bar or protein drink or sunflower seeds or something like that). so thats 6 times a day every couple/few hours or so. It reeeaallly helped me with my hunger cravings. I dont really crave much anymore. But a month ago, I was craving like crazy! So it was definitely a good change.
Best Wishes to you!

My surgeon only wants me to have 3 meals peer day.
I never eat breakfast so I have 2 meals and then a fruit snack in the evening. I can eat pretty much everything.
I only eat foods that taste good and are good for me. Good flavor is very important to me now that I can only have a little.
I've lost 37 pounds in 2months and 3 days. I have 50 more to lose.

I eat about three to four times a day. Breakfast is normally my protein drink. I then eat lunch, dinner, and a even snack. If at some point during the day I feel sense of hunger, I grab a piece of cheese and that will satisfy me.
I have found that I don't have the urge to eat like I use too. Eating doesn't have the same satifaction like it use too either. Since I can only eat five bits, I really don't have time to "savor" the taste. Eating is basically for getting in protein now. But I feel good about this and I am happy with my results.

What's eating? Obviously, i don't do much of that. I am not hungry at all, ever. Today is Sunday, May 23d, exactly 2 months post op and I've lost 43 lbs. I use to drink coffee, bagel w/peanut butter every morning, 7 days week. Now I cannot drink coffee and breakfast is nonexistence. I usually have a yogurt mid morning so I can crush my Rx within it. Lunch is normally minestrone soup from favorite deli. Dinner is usually 2 glasses of crystal light. I've purchased protein non-flavoring whey to add to liquids. I've tried protein shakes and they make me sick after a week.
