Ok, this may be a silly question but...
I'm almost four months post op and my hair is really thinning out and has become very FLAT. I used to have such a nice natural curl. I would like to go get a perm (body wave) but I'm concerned that I may damage my hair even more. Does anyone have any input on this subject? I really need to do something...fast!
Please help!
I have heard by alot of people on here that we should wait until the hair loss starts to level off. Personally I just dyed my hair and I knew that alot would come out and it did. Now a perm I would REALLY be afraid to do because the chemicals are on your hair so much longer and there is always a chance of damage even when you hair is not falling out. I would definitely wait before I got a perm. try using hot curlers instead of getting a perm some you can throw in get ready for work or what have you, take them out brush and go. I hope it all works out for you
Best wishes from a fellow hair looser

Mine is just starting to fall out and I need a perm badly. I talked to my hairdress, who is also a good friend, the other day and asked what she thought. She said that my hair is very healthy and as long as we didn't wrap the rods very tight and do anything to pull on the hair, it shouldn't be a problem. The chemicals act on the outside of the hair and if used correctly, won't cause damage to the follicles etc. If you have a good hairdress that you trust completely, it might be good to have them look at your hair and give you an opinion. Hope you solve the problem. Having bad hair days one after the other is very hard to deal with and pulls you down after a while. Good luck!
