POLL: Do You Dump????
Hey Amber,
Yeap I dump, I have dumped a lot!! I don't tolerate carbs, sugar or fat. So just about everything but protein makes me dump.
Although I can drink a small glass of regular OJ without a problem. Something about natural sugars vs refined sugars. I have dumped on a Tums and another time on a vanilla wafer.
Probably the best thing you can do is too walk away from any and all sugar products. Once you allow your taste buds to enjoy them you'll have a big ole monkey on your back.
You fell off the wagon over the weekend, that doesn't mean the past 4 months were for nothing. Get back up here with us and we'll trudge on to free the beautiful butterfly that's hiding inside us all.
Happy thoughts,

Hi Amber --
Dumping seems to be a sometime thing with me and might be for you too. For instance...one day I had a cookie -- a normal cookie and felt fine. The next day I had the exact same cookie and immediately was affected. The dumping was so scary and uncomfortable it cured me of cheating for quite some time.
I'm still tempted but I have actually found a chocolate iced protein shake to be as satisfying as anything I can cheat on, so I substitute that in now. But this has happened to me a few times...one day I'm fine with something and the next I dump on it (my dumping is defined as fast pulse, clammy feeling, chills then hot and very shakey...but I don't vomit and I don't get diarhea).
Just be very cautious and very careful.

Biscuits and Gravy KILL ME! My fave of all home food (vs. restaurant ie. Olive Garden) and pow man right in the whatever. Dumping makes my heart race, my skin is damp and sticky and cold while I feel like fire is coursing through my veins and then the fun really gets started! I get to sit on the potty with a bucket between my feet. This can last anywhere from 10 minutes what seems like forever.
I have found that things are changing for me like I could drink soda after surgery (found out by accident) but now one sip and I'm queasy. I love potato chips and could eat a few w/o problems newly post op.... now one and that's it, in a flash I'm scoping out who might be in the bathroom and for how long because I know I'm on my way. Potatoes are o.k. but only if they are baked but I like a lot of butter.... fat and grease get me just as quick so now if I have a potato I use Molly McButter. I did eat a hash brown thingy from McD's and seemed to do o.k. but with the way my tummy has been returning most gifts of food lately I don't want to chance it. One day I can eat something but not the next. I'll stick to my string cheese, turkey and shrimp thank you.... with an iced tea or jus****er....
love and hugs Gayle
I am glad some of you described the dumping. I was bad this weekend with a canister of pringles. At least it took me all day, not in one sitting like it would before surgery. So I can only blame myself for the way I felt saturday evening. Unfortunaely, if I could have
I would have felt better but I have been unable to do that since surgery. I usually get hot, clamy and have to visit the potty a lot in a 2 hour span.
The Banana did me the same way and a tossed salad. Some of it is just our bodies trying to adjust. PB & J gave me the same experience last week.
Sometimes, I fear to eat, especially if I have plans for later.

Hi Amber:
I too had a terrible eating day yesterday and ate 2 1/2 Italian pastries. They tasted so great. I did not dump. Which really is too bad.
Today I compenstated by reducing my calories to about 400 for the day.
Thank goodness this surgery gives me the ability to limit myself.
Good luck.

Hey there!
Unfortunately I do NOT think I dump!
My son is in cubscouts adn we are working thru his book and one of the things is he has to bake cookies (WHO MAKES THIS STUFF UP???)
so we made cookies he was very cute!
Anyway I am working on a HUGE project for my master's class and my sweet little SUCKUP comes in with cookies and a glass of milk "here Momma, I know you are working hard and this will help you think better" ( like I said SUCKING UP!!! ROFL)
So I am working on this paper and suddenly the plate of cookies FOUR COOKIES FOUR FREAKIN COOKIES was eaten and not even noticed and the milk was gone too... I swear I have no memory of eating them at all!
but not a symptom of dumping nothing...
I was crushed...NOW I have to be ever so vigilant... but if I eat one tiny bite to much during a meal or drink more than a wet your whistle sip I will be in the bathroom for 20-30 minutes being sick...
I love life it is always a challenge...

YES I DO, but not on everything I would think I would, but I do notice the farther out I get, the more intense and more often the dump occurs. I am thankful for that. I am with the others here, stay away from that nasty 5 letter word, S-U-G-A-R. When I dump I swear I will never eat that again, only problem is what might be a dumper one time is not the next. I hate the feeling when I dump, but it sure is an effective tool.
Hi Amber, Dont worry you are not alone on this, I am right there with you, Fighting these :devils: and I am not ashamed to say it, I ate a Brownie, got so upset because I didnt dump, I felt so very Guilty for having it also.... and instead of eating dinner after I got upset , I went back and had another one and still no dumping...
I somehow justified it by walking around the track 6 times, go figure
This sure Is a mind trip were on also, not just a Journey...
But I will get back on track tomorrow, I think having all these kids in the house is really screwing me up and making me stressed out!!!
I think this is why I am going Nuts here...
