Weight Loss Planner???
Does anyone go by this chart?
Well I do, and I am a little upset with myself. It says that at 6 months I should be at 184lbs.. I am only at 187...now before you think I am getting upset over nothing I am not. I have read that at six months you have lost the biggest majority (sp?)of your weight. I will be six months out on Friday the 17th of Sept.. I don't want to be done yet. I still have 47lbs. to go. I am asking that all of you pray for me. I need all the prayer I can get. Maybe I am just setting myself up for all of this stress. I can't help it though. I have come so far, yet still have a long way to go.

You are certainly setting yourself up for a depression. Those charts are merely averages. That's it. For you to only be 3 lbs away from the average is pretty incredible and for that you should be thankful and not unhappy.
I am far below the average but I'm losing still. I know I'm doing the right things. I know the weight will come off in time. It just takes patience and persistence.
If you are seriously upset about this then perhaps it is that you need to look at the things that maybe you think might be holding you back, if any. If you are exercising as much as you should...eating what you should and not "fudging"...then there is nothing else you can do about a "chart".
Are you taking measurements -- photos? All of the changes in your body are sure to be showing, and since when did you think you were average *grins*.

Shannon,
no havent heard of it (thank goodness) sounds like it just makes you feel defeated so that cant be good!
Yeah you are definitely setting yourself up. Oh dont listen to that 6 month carap. heh... its just stressing. Our pouches will still work its the cravings that come back...but there are little tricks of the trade to work with... such as go on a sugar fast (if you have been "tasting" sugar) to kick start your sugar dumping back into gear. Go without sugar AT ALL for like 2 weeks. Then there is... my little secret weapon, whenever I binge...(on potato chips or something) I eat something I KNOW will get me nauseous (creamy soup, a little ice cream) whatever and I get so nauseous I dont want any food and it stops the binging... then there is not having the food in the house and getting in the protein and the going back to the basics. This tool is something we will have for the rest of our lives. It will always be there for us to utilize. It doesnt dissapear after 6 months (not that you think that). You will be fine...you'll probably feel the hunger craving happening more often, you may be able to eat a little bit more... but its still a small pouch considering what it was before. You hang in there!!! Just ignore that 6 month thing I am and I am still loosing just like before.
((((hugs))))

Hi Shannon:
You will still lose as long as you pay attention to what you are eating. Both my kids were MO both had WLS and both reached goal - normal weight - at 1 year post op - not at 6 months. My DD is 2+ years post op and looks gorgeous, my son is 1+ year post op and is very handsome.
You'll be fine!!!!!
I am so far ahead of the chart that I threw it away last week.
So everyone is different.
Try not to worry, but do pay attention to what you eat.

I don't rely on the weight loss planner. You have to set what % of excess weight you think you're going to lose, so you can fudge where you stand on it. If you set it at 100%, you may be behind the curve. If you set it at 65%, you'll beat it. So it's completely arbitrary.
You and I started at the same weight. I weighed myself earlier in the week and was at 181.5. I think a nice weight for me would be 155-160 because I'm pushing 5'8" and I've been fat my whole life, so my bones are dense. To be honest with you, if my weight loss completely stopped tomorrow, I would still say surgery is the best thing that has happened to me. I would never have gotten to this size and weight on my own.
I've got lots of friends that continued losing after 12 months. The key remains the same, excercise and eating right. I'm sure you will do well.

"Majority" means over half (ask Gore about that!). You have lost 59 lbs and have 47 to go. That is not bad at all. Three pounds is nothing. This is a journey--you have not arrived at your final destination! After a one month stall, I have started losing slowly again. The odd thing is that people say they see more difference in me over the last few weeks than any period before! Let's all just keep on keeping on...
