OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh (((hugs))) I know how you feel. I haven't gained 5, but I have gained up to 4 in the past. Thankfully it came right back off. But I know what you mean about the fears. I have gone through times where I ate too much in one day and it scared the living crap out of me! One day I ate 1700+ calories and it really gave me a wake-up call.
I think some of us have to have these little wake-up calls from time to time to remind us of our vulnerabilities. This is why I will never go long without weighing myself. See, I am one of those that says the opposite with the scale. It keeps me honest and keeps me from getting off track. If I gain a little, I compensate somewhere.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I think we all need to lean on each other in times like these.

I'm ahead of you in this experience! But I am happy to report that I saw a NEW LOW on the scales this morning. I had gained 4 lbs back right after Thanksgiving and had a net loss of zero for the month of November.
Set your focus. Get your protein in. Take your vitamins. Drink your water. Think Protein & veges. Cut carbs to a minimum. You can do this.
Also, remember, especially for quick gains. These are water weigh****ch your salt for a couple of days and take a bit of potassium and you will drop it.
Most of all, don't panic!
