Nasty Belly Button Rash! (long)

My belly button revolted! I showered twice one day trying to find that nasty smell. I finally found it and boy was I surprised! The thing was literally rotting from the inside out! You know the sore that we get under our tummy flap? Well that's what it was but it was IN MY BELLY BUTTON!!! I went to the doc and was mortally embarrassed. He just looked down at it and said "Yeah, those are a real bear to keep dry!" O.K. so on my own I tried everything. Including alcohol, what a mistake that was! I was standing up, the stuff drips, 'nuff said! Ultimately what I ended up doing was stuffing it with a 2X2 gauze pad into it and putting one of those huge band aids on. The band aids ended up literally RIPPING my skin off! So..... I finally happened upon paper tape for sensitive skin. Stuff that puppy two or three times a day and it finally started to dry out. Funny thing though, it hurt but not in my belly button. It hurt way out from it all around. Now that puppy itches to beat the band!!!!! Problem essentially solved though. Oh, should you try this you might want to know that the gauze sticks to the sore parts and when you RIP it out it pulls most of the ick out with it. The longer you do this the more healthy it gets and the less it hurts. I hear when it starts itching you're on the home stretch! L&H Gayle

Bag balm is actually a medication used to treat cow's udders when they become chapped or irritated; however, it has been used to treat many human ailments for years. Nursing homes use it a lot. You can buy it anywhere. From your local pharmacey to Wal-Mart. It comes in a cute little green can with some kind of red berries on it. Ask your pharmacist they will be able to find it for you. It is great for most rashes or irritations.

Wow! I thought I was the only one. I find that yeast medicine (Monistat, etc.) works well. I think it is actually a yeast infection -- at least mine is. That is why it itches so bad. Good luck! I've had 2 rounds of it! Joy

Sounds like several good ideas to get things cleared up, but don't forget to take pictures of any rashes for potential tummy tuck insurance approval. Smiles, CP
